Yellowstone Star Charged With Workers’ Compensation Fraud
According to KTLA, on Monday, Yellowstone star Q’orinaka Kilcher was charged with workers’ compensation fraud.
An investigation by the California Department of Insurance found Kilcher allegedly broke the law in collecting over $90,000 in disability benefits.
There are two felony counts of workers’ compensation insurance fraud.
It turns out that when Kilcher was filming Dora and the Lost City of Gold, she hurt both her neck and right shoulder. She experienced severe neck pain. This happened in October 2018. According to her attorney, Michael Becker, she was in a vehicular accident on set. She was a passenger in a production vehicle, when the injury occurred.
Next, she told doctors she was unable to work due to the pain. In addition, a year later, she had explained that there were job offers, but due to the pain she suffered, she was unable to take on any new job offers. Therefore, she collected temporary disability insurance.
However, according to the report, Q’orinaka did film Yellowstone after this time. That was from July 2019 to October 2019. Moreover, she began to collect benefits five days after her last day on the Yellowstone set.
Kilcher, who portrays Angela Blue Thunder on the Paramount+ series, received a total of $96,838 in temporary disability payments between 2019 and 2021. However, she worked on Yellowstone in 2019.
Q’orianka Kilcher’s Lawyer’s Statement
According to an interview with Page Six, Becker revealed that the 32-year-old Yellowstone star was entitled to benefits.
Third-party doctors verified her injury and entitlement to benefits. Ms. Kilcher was at all times candid with her doctors and treatment providers and she never intentionally accepted benefits that she did not believe she was entitled to.
In addition, Kilcher’s attorney revealed that she will “vigorously defend herself.” Moreover, he asks that she “be afforded the presumption of innocence both in and outside the courthouse.”
