Mob Psycho 100 is finally returning after a long three-year hiatus. That type of hiatus is nothing strange for Bones Inc, the animation studio behind the show. There was also a three-year gap between Season 1 and Season 2 of the show. It’s rare for a show that has been running since 2016 to only have three seasons to show for it, but here we are. At long last, fans got the trailer for the new episodes which are going to begin airing in October of this year. What day in October is, as of right now, yet unconfirmed.
The Return Of Mob Psycho 100
The trailer came out on Youtube yesterday and already has fans buzzing about what’s to come. It doesn’t show too much that makes sense without the context of the season around it. But it seems like Season 3 is definitely going to bring the main character Mob towards a breaking point. As well as introducing a mysterious large group with hundreds of thousands of followers.
Mob Psycho 100 is a story about Mob, a young boy with psychic powers he has trouble controlling. As a result of this trouble, he generally lives without showing much emotion in low-stress situations. This obviously winds up being put to the test numerous times throughout the manga and anime. It’s written by One, the manga writer and artist behind One Punch Man.
Like One Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100 finds a wonderful balance between comedy and high-octane action sequences. Something that seems to be One’s specialty in his work. From the trailer, it definitely seems like Season 3 of the show will continue to bring both.
Season 3 And Beyond
The long gaps between seasons of Mob Psycho 100 are a bit confusing, not to mention stressful for fans. It’s not like they’re having to wait for source material, as other anime have to do sometimes. The original run of the Mob Psycho 100 manga ran from 2012 to 2017. Meaning the manga story met its end not long after the first season of the anime began to air.
There’s also one spin-off manga with the title Mob Psycho 100: Reigen that ran from 2018 to 2019. But we’re far away from even reaching the source material for the main series as of right now. It seems as though the studio likes to take their time to ensure perfection with the series. A practice that seems to have paid off, as Mob Psycho 100 has a dedicated fanbase that unrelentingly won’t forget about the show, even with terribly long wait times between seasons.
Season 3 of Mob Psycho 100 is coming to Crunchyroll this October. Although no specific day has been given just yet.
