‘Bachelorette’ Alum Becca Kufrin Doesn’t Want A TV Wedding, Here’s Why
Bachelorette alum Becca Kufrin doesn’t want a TV wedding with fiance Thomas Jacobs. Keep reading to find out why she’s suddenly camera shy.
Bachelorette alum responds to proposal backlash
Marriage proposals are typically a time to celebrate. But not always in Bachelor Nation. Bachelor In Paradise star Becca Kufrin decided to take matters into her own hands and propose to boyfriend Thomas Jacobs. She faced major backlash from some fans for the move.
The couple announced the surprising news on social media at the end of May. Kufrin and Jacobs met during Season 7 of BIP but ended the season with a breakup instead of a proposal.
They reunited shortly after filming and have been inseparable ever since. In fact, fans were expecting a proposal, but some were taken aback by Becca being the one to propose.
The Bachelor Nation stars shared the proposal details with Michelle Young on an episode of the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, which Kufrin co-hosts.
According to the reality star, some fans slammed her as “desperate” for proposing instead of waiting to be proposed to.
Kufrin responded by pointing out the sexism of that line of thinking, “If Thomas in a week were to do the exact same thing, no one says he’s desperate. It doesn’t make sense to me,” she said on the podcast.
She isn’t letting the haters get her down, but is the backlash playing a role in her desire not to have a TV wedding?
Becca Kufrin doesn’t want a TV wedding, here’s why
Becca Kufrin and Thomas Jacobs recently dished about their upcoming wedding to Entertainment Tonight. The former Bachelorette told the outlet that she doesn’t want a TV wedding. But not for the reason fans might think.
She explains that attending another Bachelor Nation wedding turned her off to the idea.
“I went to Chris and Krystal’s wedding in the past for Paradise and it was a disaster,” she said.
Chris Randone and Krystal Nielson met on Season 5 of BIP. They got married in 2019 but split less than a year later.
She also pointed out that she’s already gotten engaged on-camera twice, first to Arie Luyendyk Jr. on Season 22 of The Bachelor. When Luyendyk quickly ended the engagement to pursue runner-up Lauren Burnham, Becca went on to lead Season 14 of The Bachelorette.
There, she got engaged to Garrett Yrigoyen, but they split after two years together.
Have they started wedding planning?
Becca Kufrin knows she doesn’t want a TV wedding, but has she made any other decisions about her wedding? She told ET that she’s letting her fiance take over wedding planning.
“I’m not a planner,” she said. However, they do have a wedding “outline” and will start planning “in the next couple of months.”
