Wendy Williams Fans Says Producers Did Her Dirty?
Wendy Williams fans argue that producers did her dirty. As TV Shows Ace previously reported, her daytime talk show is officially over. The finale episode will air on Friday, June 17. Wendy watchers will have to tune in to see what happens during the show’s finale.
Unfortunately, Wendy won’t be making an appearance. She refused a request to appear on the show and say goodbye to her fans. She is bitter about what the showrunners pulled behind her back. They canceled her show while she was on an extended hiatus due to her ongoing health issues.
Daytime TV gets a major shakeup
Both The Ellen Show and The Wendy Williams Show are ending this year. It’s the end of an era for daytime TV in general. Per Variety, it’s been the biggest daytime television shakeup since Oprah Winfrey ended her eponymous talk show on May 25, 2011. However, she left at a peak of 13 million viewers and made the decision on her own.
That wasn’t the case for Wendy and Ellen. Ellen made the decision to end her talk show after 19 years due to the accusations about her behavior behind the scenes. Meanwhile, Wendy was on hiatus due to complications from Graves’ disease. Ultimately, she never returned. Production moved on without her and had guest hosts fill in for her in her purple chair.
They noticed that Sherri Shepherd commanded higher ratings during Wendy’s hiatus. They gave the actress her own talk show, which will premiere in Fall 2022. Other talk shows that are ending this year, include The Doctors, The Good Dish, Maury, The Nick Cannon Show, and The Real.
Dr. Oz said he’s ending his show. He wants to venture into politics instead. Sherri and Kelly Clarkson will replace Wendy and Ellen’s shows, respectively. Also, Tamron Hall and Drew Barrymore have been taking over daytime TV. The only original show hosts that will return next season are Dr. Phil and Live! With Kelly and Ryan.
Wendy Williams deserves better?
Fans are not happy with the news of Wendy Williams’ talk show ending. They think she deserved better. Some took to Twitter to argue that producers did her dirty since she helped redefine the daytime TV space after she dominated radio for decades with her love of pop culture topics. Wendy has teased that she will return to her show this fall, but she hasn’t revealed in what format.
Some fans say that Wendy Williams should get a better goodbye than what she is getting. Others argued that she should’ve ended the show on her own terms — not the other way around. They blame her team for the way handled her situation because of her health issues. It seemed like they were planning to replace her.
Wendy Williams deserves so much better. She built this show and its audience— to not even pay her the bare minimum respect of letting her appear on its farewell episode is egregious. They handled her so poorly in the wake of her health issues. https://t.co/GrTKCnhiE7
