Netflix has been announcing a slew of new shows along with trailers this week. This has led to a number of new surprising announcements. Things like Junji Ito’s upcoming horror anime. Or a brand new Castlevania series following a descendent of the previous show’s main characters.
One of the biggest surprises was the announcement of a show from one of the biggest artists of the modern era. Kid Cudi. It’s not just a new show, but there’s an album to go along with it. And we have a lot of the details worth building excitement over already.
Entergalactic
The trailer came out on social media just recently. It showcases an art style that many are comparing to the comic-like style from Into The Spiderverse. Far from a bad thing, considering many cite Into The Spiderverse as having some of the best animation of the last decade.
The trailer also reveals the cast, and it is not a cast to shrug off. In the lineup we have Timothee Chalamet, Jessica Williams, Ty Dolla $ign, Macauley Caulkin, and Vanessa Hudgens. Kid Cudi himself of course takes on the lead role of Jabari.
Cudi isn’t new to acting. In fact, his resume has been growing rapidly in recent years. Although he tends to prefer acting under his real-life name Scott Mescudi rather than using his musical pseudonym.
Earlier this year he was one of the main characters in one of the year’s biggest slasher-horror films X. A movie that’s been met with wild critical acclaim. Hopefully, Cudi’s acting chops along with the long list of talent attached to this series will make it something to remember.
While all of these details are new, knowledge of the existence of Entergalactic is not. Kid Cudi has been talking about this project since as early as 2019. Even before the release of his most recent project, Man On The Moon III, he was already mentioning Entergalactic. So both this album and this show are a long time in the making.
Kid Cudi
It’s unknown at this time the exact release date for Entergalactic, both the album and the series. The trailer lists the release of the series as “this fall”. It’s likely that both the album and the series will be coming at similar times, if not the exact same time.
Cudi recently dropped the song from the trailer as a single promoting the album. It’s called Do What I Want and it’s out everywhere now. Kid Cudi fans certainly have a lot to look forward to this year.
