Nick Viall Reveals Why Relationship With Natalie Joy Gave Him Anxiety
Former Bachelor Nick Viall is opening up some about his relationship with Natalie Joy. Fans love the two together. He finally found love after appearing on The Bachelor franchise four times. He was of course on Andi Dorfman’s season of The Bachelorette. Then he joined Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season. When that didn’t work out he headed to the beaches of Bachelor in Paradise. Finally, he got his shot as the lead. His engagement to Vanessa Grimaldi was short-lived and he finally became comfortable with being single. Then, Nick met Natalie.
Nick Viall shares why his relationship gave him anxiety
Natalie Joy slid into Nick Viall’s Instagram DMs and the rest is history. They seemed to hit it off rather quickly. However, there is one thing about their relationship early on that caused Nick a lot of anxiety. The 41-year-old Bachelor felt somewhat anxious being 18 years older than 23-year-old Natalie.
Yahoo! Life shared what Nick had to say. He said, “At first, it was something I think I was having a lot of anxiety about. Are we gonna be compatible? And I think early on that was part of the things I would worry about. But the more I got to know her, the more I was just going to her for advice or just checking in with her. I just felt like we met each other on the same wavelength and I always felt like she was my equal.” He continued, “So other than that, it really didn’t affect. But earlier on it was something I had to get over. And it was a me problem.”
Natalie always tried to make Nick feel at ease with the age gap. It didn’t matter to her and she felt it shouldn’t matter to him either. He finally came to the realization that it didn’t matter and now they can’t get enough of each other.
Nick said, “I always remember talking to certain friends and I would be like, wishing that that gap didn’t exist because I would feel less nervous about it. I’d always just talk through all the things that I loved about her or that she would do for me.” He continued, “I’m a big personality. I don’t always feel like people, regardless of age, I can connect with. And with her, I never felt that disconnect.”
His time on the show
Nick also took the opportunity to speak out about how the show affected his mental health. He admits that the franchise is doing better about offering support and help to cast members. He didn’t have that support that is offered now. He noted how he would go down a rabbit hole reading all the negative things people had to say about him. It wasn’t easy.
In his time of need, he turned to Ben Higgins. He and Ben have become close friends and have really leaned on each other through the negativity.
It took Nick some time to realize he didn’t have to impress everyone.
