AGT controversial moment: Singer makes it through with a 3-1 vote

Singer Ben Lapidus tried out for the talent competition. He tried to win over the judges with his humorous song about parmesan cheese. Surprisingly, Howie Mandel didn’t find his performance funny, even with his personality. But the other judges quickly reached for the red buzzer to eliminate him from the game.

Even the AGT crowd was into the singer. Some cheered for him to stay on the show. Others chanted “parmesan” since it was the catchiest part of the song. They wanted Simon Cowell to tell Ben to sing the song again. Simon admitted that the song was catchy and he couldn’t get it out of his head.

He retracted his X. Heidi Klum also told him yes. Sofia Vergara wanted to say no but allowed the fans to change her minds. Howie Mandel still said no to the singer. This comes as a shock to fans since he also has a silly side. He has no regrets about that moment.

“What’s great is, I think we disagree, but we agree to disagree. We respect the disagreement,” Howie Mandel told CBS8, per Monsters & Critics. “We don’t have the same taste, and that’s what we love about everybody here. That’s what I love about Heidi, Sofia, and Simon.”

It seems like the former Bobby’s World star would be into the song. However, he didn’t find it humorous. The judge thinks it’s okay that he had a different opinion. Howie calls himself one of the “toughest” judges, who feels the need to be “brutally honest.”

Howie Mandel returned to the Season 17 of America’s Got Talent with his fellow judges. There weren’t many disagreements among them during the premiere. Howie is easily swayed by the emotional backstories of the contestants. When Avery Dixon talked about his experience with being bullied in school, Howie told the young man, “I love you.”
