Since Josh was arrested in the spring of 2021, sources close to the family believed that Jim Bob didn’t think his son was guilty. Josh’s wife, Anna Duggar, reportedly also believed he was innocent.
Despite this, fans are convinced that Jim Bob was trying to cover up Josh’s disturbing actions. So, what happened, and what did Jim Bob Duggar say?
Jim Bob Duggar tried to keep Josh’s acts a secret?
On social media, an old post from Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar has resurfaced. In the post, which they to their Facebook page in 2019, they tried to “debunk” something on the internet. Reports were swirling that the Duggar family’s home had been raided by the government.
The couple claims that “this is not true.”
Then, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar wrote, “To the best of our knowledge, it’s also not true that any member of our family is the target of any investigation of any kind.”
They claimed that this was due to their family living in the public eye and referred to it as a “rumor” and “fake news.”
However, it’s now obvious that there was an investigation going on within the Duggar family. Josh’s car lot was raided around this time, which ultimately led to his arrest.
So, it seems possible that Jim Bob was attempting to deny the investigation to keep his family’s secrets under wraps.
In response to this post, Duggar snarkers on Reddit are talking about how poorly the Duggars’ Facebook post aged. Fans wonder if Jim Bob was trying to sweep this whole thing under the rug.
One Reddit user says, “Boggles the mind they thought it would never be confirmed/the public would never know/it could be kept quiet.”
Someone else adds, “‘To the best of our knowledge’ is a loophole for a big fat whopper. These people are fooling nobody anymore.”
