‘Unexpected’: The 2 Haileys Feud Explained, What’s It All About?
Unexpected has seen a lot of drama in its five seasons. Yet fans were not expecting what went down between best friends Hailey Tomlinson and Hailey Tilford. In case you’re new to the series and the past drama, here is a breakdown of the feud that rocked the show. More than that, it was one of the worst betrayals a person could ever experience.
Hailey And Hailey’s Unexpected Betrayal
It is hard enough being a teen mother so you need all of the support that you can get. Hailey Tomlinson (Hailey 1) was quite lucky. During Season 3 of the hit TLC reality series, her parents were amazing. They not only supported her but embraced her baby daddy, Matthew Blevins. It seemed like it could all work out really well for the teen parents-to-be until Matt started to act really shady. He began to send flirty text messages to Hailey’s best friend also named Hailey (now Hailey 2). Hailey 2 would sit next to her BFF and show them to her, seeing how hurt it made Hailey 1. She knew she was doing something wrong but did not appear to care.
Ultimately, neither Hailey 2 nor Matthew stayed faithful to Hailey 1. They started a relationship and by the tell-all, the two were expecting their first child together. It was just a horrible situation that not only played out in front of Hailey 1 but also on camera. In the end, Matt proved he could not stick around for anyone and the two girls found a commonality in his abandonment. Hailey 1 moved on with a new man and is quite happy but the feud has since resurfaced thanks to Reddit.
Drama Never Ends
With all the Jason Korpi insanity for the current season, viewers have gone back and rewatched old episodes. They are now rediscovering the Hailey drama, some seeing it for the first time. A Reddit thread just started to discuss all that went down and there is a lot to unpack. One question was why these girls were even fighting over Matt, to begin with. “Why did they ever fight over effing Matthew of all people?!?!” it started. “He looks like a dollar store MGK and I say this as someone who loves MGK,” someone responded.
It quickly shifted into the actual drama between the two besties. “I think hailey 2 thought that she could secure a spot on the show if she got pregnant but that didn’t really happen,” one Redditor noted. Another added: “With Hailey 1, I always thought maybe she was flattered because he might have been the first guy to show her attention. With Hailey 2, I think she wanted to steal Hailey 1’s man.” Apparently, Matt had hooked up with a friend of Hailey 1’s before her so this is just their cycle. Oh, high school and teen drama at its finest.
