Doris Egan (The Good Doctor, Reign), Nancey Silvers (Chesapeake Shores, Murder She Baked), and Annie Frisbie (The Good Witch’s Destiny) wrote the script based on the book. Linda Lisa Hayter (The Road Ahead, Cranberry Christmas) is the director.
What Is Lifetime’s Dirty Little Secret About?
According to The Futon Critic, this is a story inspired by true events. On the outside, Joanna (Hart) looks like a highly functioning nurse. No one would imagine that she has a holding disorder.
However, her 17-year-old daughter Lucy (Boys) has had to carry the shame inside of her. That means isolating herself from her classmates at school.
Most of all, she never wants to be put into a position where they go into her home. That is a dirty family secret that she does not want to be revealed.
Inside her home is piles upon piles of things in every nook and cranny of her home. Joanna refuses to have anyone touch or move her precious things.
Therefore, Lucy’s solution is to go away to college. This is how she can escape from this pain. Lucy sees this as the only way she can avoid this chaos and maintain a semblance of sanity.
However, tragedy strikes. Now, Lucy has to decide whether she is brave enough to expose her family’s secret to the world. Or, will she continue to hide her mom’s secret?
