Holly Robinson Peete Filming Hallmark’s ‘The Road Ahead’
Ready to hit the road again? Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is filming their third road-trip movie of 2022. This new movie is called The Road Ahead. This is a movie about female friendship.
This stars Holly Robinson Peete (Our Christmas Journey, Christmas In Evergreen: Bells Are Ringing), Kaylee Bryant (Legacies, Santa Clarita Diet), Mark Humphrey (When Calls The Heart, Paradise Falls), and Trevor Lerner (Virgin River, Nancy Drew).
Erin Engman (Sabbatical) wrote the script. Linda-Lisa Hayter (Five More Minutes, Cranberry Christmas) is the director.

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Filming Road Trip Movie
On Tuesday, ET shared that Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is currently filming The Road Ahead. Therefore, because this will air on HMM, this means that the storyline will be more emotional. What is it about?
According to the synopsis, Madeline (Peete) is a famous Hollywood actress. She embarks on a cross-country trip with Sarah (Bryant), a wilderness expert.
The two start with opposite travel styles. They are not exactly communicating. However, as they get to know each other, they realize they have more in common than they first thought.
These sorts of long trips often bring on opportunities to talk. Madeline and Sarah soon reveal their past mistakes, and through unconditional love, they “unexpectedly help each other.”
The Road Ahead Is An Emotional Journey

Hallmark Repeating Road Trip Theme
One of the favorite Hallmark tropes is road trip movies. Inspired by movies like Trains, Planes, & Automobiles, cross country-traveling offers a cornucopia of opportunities to tell a story and have some fun.
In 2022, Hallmark has also already aired one road trip movie. That is A Royal Runaway Romance. It stars Philippa Northeast and Brant Daugherty. It is a Royal movie mashed up with a road trip movie. That has already aired in April.
Coming up in May is Road Trip Romance. This stars Natalie Hall and Corey Sevier. This is a movie about two high school rivals who are forced to ride home together.
However, while the other two road trip movies were more romcom, The Road Ahead is far more serious and emotional. While the trope is the same, the result will be very different for Hallmark fans.
Although they are currently filming The Road Ahead in Vancouver, the movie will not premiere until sometime this summer. That could be in June, or in August, as July is Christmas in July.
