Will Artem Chigvintsev Return To ‘DWTS’ Amid Backstage Shakeups?
There’s a lot going on behind the scenes of Dancing With The Stars right now. Over the last few weeks, the network fired an executive producer and announced that Season 31 will be on Disney+ instead of ABC. And now, rumors persist that Tyra Banks is out of the picture too. Now, Artem Chigvintsev is speaking up about some of the changes going on.
Artem Chigvintsev confirms there are a lot of unknowns about Season 31
Despite what you might think, the pro dancers generally don’t know what’s going on long before the public does. Unfortunately, Artem and the rest of the dancers are still in the dark about many future changes.
“As far as the show goes, the only information we received of it is we are going to be on a different platform, but as far as like, who’s going to be part of it and even ourselves as dancers, I’m not sure,” Artem said in an interview with Us Weekly.
The Season 29 champion added that a lot of these unknowns should be hammered out by August. Hopefully by then, they’ll know whether or not they have a spot on the show.
“I feel like there’s a lot of time ahead of us right now. So, we haven’t got any information on that. We’re definitely not the first people to find out what’s going on.”
Dancing With The Stars never officially confirmed whether or not Tyra Banks would be back for Season 31. But an insider reportedly told The Sun that she’s definitely out.
“There is no official decision on who will be hosting next season but it doesn’t look like Tyra will be back,” an insider allegedly told The Sun. “Which would be a network decision, not her decision.”
The inside went on to say that production has been “a mess” over the last two years. The move to Disney+ is definitely an indicator of the backstage chaos.
The Season 29 champion struggled with his health issues recently
Artem Chigvintsev didn’t seem to indicate whether or not he would be interested in coming back for another season. He just recovered from a lengthy battle with pneumonia but did manage to make it back to the Dancing With The Stars tour before it wrapped up.
The 2022 tour barely began before Artem sadly took a step back from performing.
“My time on tour so far has been wonderful – unfortunately I am having to step away from tour for a while, due to some unexpected health issues,” the Russian dancer wrote on Instagram at the time. “My goal is to recover as quickly as possible so I can rejoin my cast and crew on this incredible tour. Thank you for your patience and understanding. See you soon, Artem.”
Fans hope he doesn’t have any lingering side effects and will be ready to perform this fall.

Probably not. I would have to pay for Disney and there isn’t likely anything else I would watch. Also, the quality of the contestants has been really poor in the past several years; getting rid of Tyra would help, but only if replaced with someone who knows what they are talking about. Don’t get me wrong, I love Tyra on her usual shows, but not on dancing.
I have been a fan for many years. Count me out, bad decision to make people pay on Disney.
