Lala Kent Addresses Backlash Over Ocean’s 1st Birthday Party

Lala Kent is addressing the backlash over Ocean’s 1st birthday party. Some fans think she was doing too much for her little one who won’t remember it. This came before she received criticism for giving her daughter a Louis Vuitton handbag. Fans argued that Ocean won’t be able to use it until she’s much older.

Lala explained that it was always a tradition in her family. Her grandmother and mother passed down a handbag to her. So, she wanted to do the same with her baby. When it came to her little one’s first birthday, she wanted to make it special. She threw a lavish Ocean-themed party that included the likes of her Vanderpump Rules cast members.

Unsurprisingly, Lala Kent and her ex-fiance Randall Emmett had individual birthday parties for their daughter. She celebrated Ocean’s milestone birthday with the past and present members of Pump Rules. Some would say that her birthday party was over-the-top. She dressed her baby in an Ariel bathing suit with a matching bow.

She was joined by fellow co-stars Scheana Shay and Raquel Leviss. Former castmates Stassi Schroeder, Beau Clark, Jax Taylor, and Brittany Cartwright also joined in on the festivities with their babies. The event took place at Jax and Brittany’s $1.9 million home, which was the perfect backdrop for the lavish event.

Lala Kent is living more of a humble life these days. She moved out of the Bel-Air home she once shared with Randall in October 2021. While she moved into her own apartment, she still wanted to give Ocean everything she wanted. So, she had the party in the Valley Village neighborhood of Los Angeles, where many of their VPR friends reside in.

The former model took to Instagram to share many photos and videos from the event. While the content provided many adorable snapshots, some fans think it was too much for a baby. Others think Lala Kent threw the party for herself and her fellow parents. The backyard included a sign that read “Ocean Vibes” along with stands that said, “Give Them Ocean” and “Ocean’s Sea-Merch-In.”

Lala Kent responds to the criticism

Lala Kent is clapping back at the criticism over Ocean’s birthday party. She admitted that she went “overboard” with planning her daughter’s special day. The proud mom just couldn’t help herself. On Thursday, April 7, she made an appearance on Access Hollywood’s Housewives Nightcap.

“We did go overboard,” Lala Kent said. “I had a lot of help. I’m great at ideas, not great at executing and that was one of — this sounds so lame — that was one of my biggest fears becoming a mom. I was like, ‘Birthday parties, how am I going to make them special because I’m so bad at planning things.'”

The former SUR hostess said she got “overwhelmed” by the party planning. So, she hired a team to help her out. Even if her daughter doesn’t remember that day, they still have the photos to go back with. Lala Kent is happy with the results since it “will show that we cared.”
