Will Jesse Metcalfe Return For Chesapeake Shores Season 6?
One question that Chesapeake Shores fans will want to know is whether Jesse Metcalfe will return to reprise his role as Trace. They tailor-made the Hallmark series for Metcalfe.
He helped make decisions such as casting Meghan Ory to play Abby. The two had worked together in the past. He saw her in this role.
Therefore, it was a shock when just a year ago, it was announced that the Desperate Housewives alum was leaving the series. Subsequently, it was later revealed that he didn’t like that the new Showrunner, Phoef Sutton (Boston Legal), did not want Trace and Abby together.
Moreover, when he recently spoke to The List, he revealed, “I think maybe the new Showrunner and maybe the producers behind that show were starting to find it challenging, figuring out really where they wanted to take these characters, even though there was a strong outline from the books [and] a strong desire by the audience to see them ultimately end up together.”
However, Jesse’s name is not on the cast list. Yet, in that recent interview, he did say that he would like to come back.
Moreover, he wants a “full circle” moment with the end result of Trace and Abby back together. “I think that’s the scenario that makes the most sense.”
Jesse Metcalfe Talks About Hallmark
On Monday, Jesse Metcalfe took to Instagram to talk about Hallmark. Moreover, he talked about Hallmark fans. He clearly loves and appreciates the Hallmark fan base.
He shared a clip of his first Hallmark movie, A Country Wedding. This is the movie he starred in with Autumn Reeser.
He wrote, “This is the movie that started it all for me at Hallmark, and introduced me to the most incredibly loyal and supportive fan base I’ve ever known. Creating moments like this, for all of YOU, is what making movies is all about. Here’s to creating many more romantic, heartwarming, moving, emotional moments that get you all up in the feels!🥲🥰”
Autumn responded, “Awwww I haven’t seen this in ages!! What a sweet scene — I always love working with you ✨”
It certainly sounds like Jesse may be back doing some Hallmark work. But, could it be Chesapeake Shores, or is it something else?

Its only right that he come back as Trace so he and Abby will end the show as a married couple
Yes, the girls loved him ever since they were little girls and he fit right in – they were the perfect family….. He only needed to be able to make a HIT with his Bar/ Nightclub & stop traveling. Hope they get to finally be a real family💕💕
I think that jesse and megan need to end the show together as a married couple and family
I am really hoping to hear that Jesse comes back for the the last season, he and megan make the show together, and they have a lot of chemistry together, I just want to see MORE of them as a couple, I love the show but to me its always been more about Bree and Simon than anything else.
i want too see jesse come back in season 6 him abby 2 girls made the whole series
I hope that Jesse and Meghan get back together for good. They have been my favorites since the beginning of the series.
I think Chesapeake Shores is probably the finest production Hallmark has to offer. I understand why it was canceled. Without Jesse Metcalfe the series went south rapidly. Trace and Abby are the center of this show….introducing Abby to other suitors is ridiculous. The heated exchange between them before Trace left does not play…for season you show their deep love and overcoming obstacles and then you play that heated exchange…nonsense. My advice …bring him back…
I work in the industry and I write…..it’s a great series..your loss if you go the direction you’re going but I think you already know that…that’s why you’re cancelling.
I want to know why Chesapeake Shores is being canceled. It only had six seasons with 10 shows per season basically I think it can go forward I’m really upset that it’s being canceled. I think Hallmark and definitely carry this show out.
