Miley Cyrus' Plane Struck By Lightning: Paraguay Festival Canceled

Disney Channel alum and singing sensation Miley Cyrus’ plane was struck by lightning causing her Paraguay Festival appearance to be canceled. After the singer’s plane was struck by lightning, it was forced to make an emergency landing. This unexpected occurrence tossed a wrench in Miley’s pretty tight schedule. Naturally, fans of the Disney Channel alum have one pretty big question. Is the singer alright? Is everyone on the plane alright? Here’s everything we know about what happened.

Miley Cyrus’ plane struck by lightning

Miley Cyrus along with her crew, band, friends, and family were on a plane traveling to Paraguay when it was struck by lightning and they were forced to make an emergency landing. The singer was slated to headline during the second day of Paraguay’s Asunciónico Festival. Because of the pandemic, 2019 was the last time this festival was held. Miley Cyrus took to her Instagram to explain what happened and to break the sad news to those at the festival waiting to see her perform.

Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lighting. My crew, band, friends and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing. We were unfortunately unable to fly into Paraguay.”

Miley’s post included a brief video clip showing the lightning flash outside of the airplane window. Her post also included a photo of the damage done to the plane by the lightning strike.

She concluded her post by reminding her fans and followers that she loved them dearly.

The entire festival might be canceled

According to The Rolling Stones, the opening day of the Festival was canceled because of weather conditions. Foo Fighters, Doja Cat and Machine Gun Kelly were among the performers that were slated to perform on opening day. Festival officials have yet to make a decision regarding whether Wednesday’s performances will happen as scheduled (without Miley).
