SPOILERS FOR EPISODES 1 & 2 OF SURVIVOR SEASON 42:
Nobody knows the game of Survivor better than the veterans who have been on the beaches and through the tribals. Even so, it’s a game that’s near-impossible to predict. With new twists constantly shaking up the game, and players not always acting the way you’d expect them to. Some seasons have clear-cut frontrunners from the beginning. And others are rollercoaster rides of unpredictable moves until the end.
Recently, Survivor alum Evvie Jagoda from the recent Season 41 did an interview for Distractify. In the interview, they share a lot of their thoughts on the current season that’s following their own. Evvie also makes an interesting prediction on an early frontrunner who shows a good deal of promise. Will the prediction wind up becoming reality?
‘Survivor’ 41 & ‘Survivor’ 42 Parallels
“It’s also really interesting because so much of what is happening … so far in 42 are variations on things that happened for the first time in 41. So it’s really fun for me to watch thinking, ‘Oh, they changed this a little bit.’ And, ‘The players are reacting this way,’” said Evvie about both seasons.
She’s got a great point. The way players are approaching the same twists in Season 42 without having seen 41 shows how simply having different personalities can radically alter a season. There have already been 2 attempts at the “shot in the dark” twist attempted this season. One attempt per episode. By contrast, Season 41 only had one attempt at the twist the entire season and it was after the merge.
“I think the biggest emergence for me this week was Daniel!”
Evvie’s current frontrunner is Daniel, and it’s hard not to agree after having watched the most recent episode. Daniel appears to be a strong social and strategic player. His approach to Mike finding the three-way idol will make you wonder why nobody thought of it in Season 41. He clearly has a great grasp of the game, and also has good connections with everyone in his tribe. If he can carry that over into the merge, Daniel’s got a great shot at taking the title.
‘Survivor’ 42 Is Just Getting Started
As of writing this, there are 15 castaways remaining in Season 42. Daniel’s going strong right now, but he’s got a lot of days to go before having any real shot at the end. Not to mention a plethora of twists and a whole merge that’s guaranteed to be chaotic with this group.
We’ll see who’s merge material and who’s getting left in the pre-merge soon enough. Evvie’s made the merge, but only for a few days before being voted out. So we’ll see how accurately they can really predict who could be here for the long haul.
New episodes of Survivor Season 42 air every Wednesday.
