Tom Schwartz Breaks Silence On Katie Maloney Divorce Rumors
Bravo fans have been invested in the evolution of Tom and Katey Maloney-Shwartz for the last nine years. Despite their epic, and very public love story, however, happily ever after just wasn’t in the cards. Earlier tonight, Katie made the first move – announcing the split via social media. Shortly thereafter, Tom follows suit, sharing his side of the split in a lengthy Instagram post. What did Schwartz have to say about the split? Are he and Katie headed for the big ‘D’? Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney Throw In the Towel
After an epic 12 year relationship, Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney are officially calling it quits. The pair have been regulars on the hit Bravo show Vanderpump Rules for the last nine years. Fans have watched the couple evolve from boyfriend and girlfriend to husband and wife. Many seemed to be rooting for them to go the distance. Unfortunately, it appears that behind closed doors, the couple was dealing with issues that eventually culminated in their split.
While fans were certainly shocked by the sudden reveal, many had certainly suspected that the pair were going through a rough patch. Back in February, Maloney shared a quote from Kim Kardashian West on her Instagram. The quote came from Kim’s recent Vogue cover story.
“In the last two years, I decided I’m going to make myself happy,” Maloney quoted in her post, “And that feels really good. And even if that created changes and caused my divorce, I think it’s importantto be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy….I’ve chosen myself. I think it’s okay to choose you.”
In the midst of fans wondering what the cryptic post might mean about her relationship with Tom, the rumors were further fueled by another post from earlier this week. Maloney shared a photo of herself on Instagram Friday posing with VPR alum pal Stassi Schroeder Clark. Fans were quick to notice that Katie was not wearing her ring in the photos.
Katie Maloney Drops the Bomb
Earlier tonight, fans’ suspicions were validated when Katie shared a post on social media announcing that she and Schwartz had split. In a lengthy photo post, the Bravo star spoke of her relationship with Tom in a loving way. She expressed no ill will or unkindness toward him and shared that despite it being time for her to move on, she has a deep admiration for her husband and will continue to love and support him in his future endeavors.
“After 12 years on an adventure through life together Tom and I are ending our marriage,” Katie reported, “This ending is not met with resentment or animosity, no sides to choose. We have deep admiration for one another that will always remain and we cherish our friendship.” The celeb goes on to say that she will always cherish their friendship and thanks fans for all the kind words and support.
In just over an hour, Katie’s post spread like wildfire. At the time of this publication, it has already received nearly 100K likes and more than 5,000 comments.
Tom Schwartz Breaks His Silence
Shortly after Katie’s announcement rocked fans on social media, Tom Schwartz took the opportunity to follow suit with his own post. The reality hunk shared his side of the split, opening up to fans about his sadness and where there is to go from here.
In a post that dwarfed Maloney’s in length, Tom wrote, “Well this sucks. How am I supposed to capture 12 years of love in a f–in canned Instagram caption,” he mused sadly, “I’m not quite ready to use the ‘D’ word bc it’s too painful. Yes my heart aches but I’ll be ok.
Schwarz goes on to reveal to his followers that even though his heart is broken, he and Katie have an honest and healthy line of communication and have mutually agreed that the split is for the best. Tom says that while he loves and adores Maloney, he would be sadder if she stayed because he knows she is unhappy. He asks fans to please be kind, as they are going through a difficult time. The celeb acknowledges that asking for privacy is redundant when they’ve made their lives so public. So instead, he just asks that they be gentle with their judgments for the time being.
One Last Time, With Feeling
As his relationship with Katie comes to an end, Tom holds that their relationship brought him great joy. “We had some of the most blissful, romantic, fun times humanly possible over the course of our relationship,” he shared, “She taught me so much about love & being a better partner.”
According to Tom, the pair were never perfect. Hardly a “model couple” he writes. He however believes that because they do love each other and genuinely wish each other happiness, they will be ‘model divorcees.’
Tom Schwartz ends his post by telling his soon-to-be ex-wife that he loves her and that she will always have a place in his heart.
“I’ll shut up now and say it one last time, love you Bub. Always & forever you’ll be in my heart.”
