Josh Duggar Has A ‘Tough’ First Birthday Behind Bars
Josh Duggar is spending his very first birthday behind bars. On Thursday, March 3, the former 19 Kids & Counting star celebrated his 34th birthday. While he might typically have a big celebration at his parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s home, he won’t get that kind of treatment this year.
Josh is currently being held in jail as he awaits his sentencing date, which is slated for April 5. The TLC star was found guilty of receiving and possessing child pornography. His trial wrapped up in December. He’s now facing decades behind bars and may have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines as well.
On Josh’s birthday in 2021, his wife Anna dedicated an Instagram post to him that has not aged well. The wife and mother to seven wrote, “Happy Birthday Joshua! I love being by your side — looking forward to what the next 33 years have in store for us!🤍”
Obviously, the next 33 years of Josh’s life will look much different than the family might have expected this time last year.

Family Friend Shares About Josh Duggar’s Birthday Behind Bars
An anonymous source close to the Duggar family spoke with Fox News about Josh’s birthday and how his family is doing. The source said, “I do think he’s staying strong, but anybody is going to struggle through tough times like that.”
The source continued, “When you have a birthday with them and you keep it to just family it’s like 30 to 40 people,” the source said. “[Josh’s birthday] will be a sad day. Every day is going to be a sad day for him. He has children, a wife, he has a family, and he doesn’t get to see them, so his birthday is going to be tough. Every day has got to be tough. That’s going to be part of what he has to go through as he goes through this.”
Finally, the insider said of Josh Duggar, “There’s not an easy day in his life for the next however long. Birthdays obviously, but probably more so would be birthdays of Anna and birthdays of the kids. I wouldn’t say he’d be centered upon himself. He’s going to miss the opportunities to spend with them.”
