Sherri Shepherd Speaks Out On Replacing Wendy Williams
Sherri Shepherd is speaking out since replacing Wendy Williams. She plans to honor her predecessor amid the news that she will host a new daytime talk show in Williams’ place. Shepherd was one of the many celebrity guest hosts who sat in the purple chair while Williams focused on her ongoing health struggles.
However, Shepherd had no idea that her wildest dreams would come true. Earlier this week, it was announced that she would have her own eponymous talk show. Sadly, that also means The Wendy Williams Show is ending after this season. Shepherd spoke out about the decision and what it means to her.
Sherri Shepherd will honor Wendy Williams
Sherri Shepherd made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday, September 23. She plans to commemorate Wendy Williams on her new talk show. The day after the show’s announcement, she told host Andy Cohen what she loved most about Williams.
“She made her own path. What Wendy does, nobody can recreate — none of the guest hosts,” Sherri Shepherd said. “That is specific, Wendy created that. The ‘spill the tea’ and she’d sit there and be like, ‘You know what I’m talkin’ about.’ So I love that, and I love her fearlessness, and that is something that I want to emulate and keep going.”
Shepherd noted that Williams “opened up a lot of doors” for women. She feels that the television personality is “up there with the greats.” Shepherd previously guest-hosted The Wendy Williams Show and co-hosted ABC’s The View for many years. She admitted that it’s been her dream come true to have her own talk show.
“I used to be like five years old with like a toilet paper roller [microphone] and all my teddy bears, talking to my bears,” Shepherd explained.
Williams is ending her eponymous talk show after 13 seasons. She took a break from her show in September 2021 due to her health issues. Williams suffered from a breakthrough case of COVID-19 and complications related to Graves’ Disease.
Sherri Shepherd announces her own talk show
Sherri Shepherd helped guide the ship on The Wendy Williams Show while the original host was sick. The talk show has seen an uptick in ratings during her episodes. Fans loved Shepherd and wanted her to take over. The producers took notice, and now Shepherd will have her own talk show on FOX.
“OMG! I am so excited to have my dream come true and debut my very own talk show SHERRI in the fall,” Sherri Shepherd said in a statement to People. “I can’t wait until I return to NY to host the show and merge everything I love…pop culture, talk, entertainment, and comedy. I am thankful to Debmar-Mercury and FOX for partnering with me on this show and look forward to this new journey.”
Shepherd and her producing partners Jaw Murray will serve as executive producers along with executive producer and showrunner David Perler of The Wendy Williams Show. She will continue to guest host the show this week. What are your thoughts on Sherri Shepherd taking over for Wendy Williams? Sound off below in the comment section.

I quit watching it. I hate the way she talks. I will not watch anymore. Wait for Wendy to come back with her new show. She needs to get a man and quit talking about it. She’s trying to put it out there, I guess.
