'Bachelor' Demi Burnett Shares Autism Diagnosis

The Bachelor star Demi Burnett took to Instagram yesterday to reveal she has been diagnosed with autism. In her post, she asks her followers to be accepting and open-minded as she moves forward with embracing this side of who she is.

The Bachelor personality took to Instagram with a trigger warning yesterday. In the comments of her post, some of her followers admit they were a little perplexed on the need for a trigger warning on this type of post. One individual noted the trigger warning painted autism in a negative light off the bad and it was unnecessary.

With her trigger warning, she did clarify she wasn’t sure if it was necessary. She, however, thought it was better to be safe than sorry. Other followers chimed in that struggling to get acceptance can be a trigger for someone on the spectrum.

Demi Burnett noted that after a psychological evaluation it has been confirmed that she’s on the spectrum. She penned: “There is a huge stigma when it comes to autism. I encourage you to be open minded and accepting.”

I will share more on my story of my evaluation and how I got to this point and all of my pain and struggles along the way. I want to make sure anyone who is/was feeling like me can know you really aren’t alone. It can get better! And most importantly it isn’t your fault.”

Demi added that all she really hopes for is to have a “better quality of life.” Her post also included several autism memes she found to be educational and informative.

Her followers showered her with support

For the most part, her Instagram followers thanked her for being brave enough to share this information. Some were quick to welcome her to the autism community sharing their own connection to said community

Sadly, there were a few trolls with negative things to say in her comments. One individual asked her if she was sure because the autism diagnosis didn’t feel right. Her more supportive followers, however, were quick to chew this individual out. They noted autism doesn’t have a certain look or feel.

There were even a few individuals in the comments who admit they saw autism traits in her as they got to know her. Overall, however, most of her followers had nothing but love and support for her.
