Captain Lee Rosbach Finds ‘Below Deck’ Season 9 ‘Shocking’
Below Deck star Captain Lee Rosbach shared his thoughts on Season 9. He thinks this season had its share of “shocking” moments. The main storyline of the season was Heather Chase’s n-word controversy. She said the racist slur in front of deckhand Rayna Lindsey during a drunken night out.
Heather has since apologized for the situation. However, Rayna felt that she couldn’t trust her even though she accepted her apology. Despite the outcry among fans, Heather was never fired or reprimanded. Even first officer Eddie Lucas was calling for her firing.
Why Captain Lee thinks this is the most “shocking” season yet
Captain Lee Rosbach made an appearance on The Morning Show. The Below Deck cast member called Season 9 the most “shocking” season. While he’s worked with his share of rowdy and difficult crew members, nothing has ever prepared him for this season. In the new interview, Lee revealed how he felt about the “shocking” moments that took place in Season 9.
“I’ll tell you what, I’m as surprised as anybody. I’m watching it and I’m just like, I pull my glasses off and will be like, ‘Did I just see that right?'” the Below Deck star said on The Morning Show. “Or I’ll hear someone and go like, ‘No, she didn’t really just say that did she?”
Apparently, Lee was referring to the n-word scandal. He didn’t directly address the situation on the show. On his weekly blog, he said he doesn’t tolerate those words on his yacht. During the interview, Lee discussed the drama that went down between Heather and Rayna.
That wasn’t the only thing that happened during the season. Jake Foulger found himself in a love triangle between Rayna and Fraser Olender. He also loved removing his pants during every crew outing. Lee addressed Jake’s love of getting to the “bottom” of things.
Was the Below Deck star upset with Heather Chase?
Earlier in the season, Captain Lee was upset when Heather volunteered him to officiate a vow renewal ceremony. The Below Deck star made it clear that he was not happy with her decision. Lee feels he should’ve been consulted before. Lee took to Twitter to admit that he wasn’t upset with having to do the job.
He just didn’t like how the Below Deck newcomer nominated him without his consent. Lee hinted that Heather went above her rank.
“I wasn’t p***ed about doing the renewal vows. I was p***ed because one of my crew thought it was ok to volunteer me for something without consulting me. That was the issue,” Lee tweeted, as quoted by Reality Blurb.
Despite the issues, Lee enjoyed this season. It was definitely one of the more polarizing seasons in Below Deck history. Now that it’s finally over, fans can look forward to the spinoffs that the franchise has in store. Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 premieres on Monday, February 21 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
