Turns out, Amy Halterman and her husband Michael have a bit of a dirty secret they’ve been hiding from fans. A secret of the “keeping it in the family” nature. As Amy Halterman herself confirmed when she sat down with The Sun for an exclusive interview recently, one of her sisters married Michael’s brother.

Now, this isn’t technically an incestuous situation because Amy’s sister and Michael’s brother are not related by blood. But, 1000-Lb. Sisters fans that have made the connection admit it leaves them feeling kind of icky because of the Sweet Home Alabama vibes the union gives off.

Talent associate producer of 1000-Lb Sisters, Grant Gibbs, has been sharing some behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram and some videos on TikTok. 1000-Lb. Sisters fans noticed in one of the photos that Amanda’s last name was Halterman. Further digging confirms Amanda goes by Amanda Halterman on Instagram as well.

This was a bit confusing as fans knew she was Amy’s sister and Halterman is Amy’s married name. Unsurprisingly, fans on Twitter and Facebook were quick to dig into the history of this family to figure out why Amy and Amanda shared a last name.

Amanda Halterman’s maiden name is actually Combs. Technically, this makes her Chris Combs sister and a half-sister to Amy and Tammy Slaton. Presently, Amanda’s name is Amanda Halterman because she married Michael’s brother. Internet sleuths on Reddit were able to dig up just a little bit of information on Amanda’s husband.

Turns out, Amanda is married to Michael’s brother named Jason. This information was dug up via Darlene’s husband’s obituary that confirms Amy and Amanda share a last name.

The obituary reads: “Survivors include: wife Darlene R., daughter Crystal C., son Wayne R.; 5 Step-Children: Misty W. and husband David, Christopher C. and wife Brittany, Amanda Halterman and husband Jason, Tammy Slaton, Amy Halterman and husband Michael.”

Things get a little fuzzy with which sister had an interest in the Halterman boys first and which sister was just a bit of a lazy dater. Some fans speculate Amy and Michael likely met after Amanda married Jason. Amy, however, tells The Sun she and Michael have known each other since she was just eight years old.

Amy Halterman also tells The Sun her sister Amanda is in the process of getting a divorce from Jason. Once the divorce is complete, Jason will be both her ex-husband and her brother-in-law.

  1. I think it’s Kool. Keep it in the family …lol I was going to marry my stepfathers brother the live of my life and if he hadn’t of passed we would of been my husband and my uncle now how Kool is that….

  2. I think you are sick to make sound like it’s incestuous or wrong. My grandmother’s sister married my grandfather’s brother and it is a beautiful love story. Shame on you for writing it in a negative light.

    1. I agree.. My parents met years ago in the local movie theater. My dad and his brothers all worked there and my mom and sisters went there all the time. My dad married my mom, his brother married my mom’s sister and his other brother married my mom’s cousin. Only thing, we got short on cousins!!

So what Love Comes in All Shapes and Sizes, My Ex Husband’s Mother and Father Were Cousins, Caused One Heck Of A Rift In The Fam-Damily but they had 2 Sons, ppl Said Marrying Same Blood Would Cause a problem With Having Normal Babies, Well it Didn’t….We Had 2 Nieces from his Brother….Perfectly Normal and My Ex Had A Perfectly Normal Daughter, By The Way She’s a Dr Today.
