Exciting 2022 ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Tour Finally Here, See Our Review!
I’ve covered DWTS for TV Shows Ace for almost two years now. So when I got the chance to get tickets to the 2022 Dancing With The Stars tour, of course, I jumped at the opportunity.
I convinced my sister to tag along. On January 29 we made it to the Old National Centre in Indianapolis to see the show. She’s only a casual DWTS viewer but still had a great time.
Before we arrived, I knew we were going to be short a cast member. Season 29 champion Artem Chigvintsev recently announced he was pulling out of the tour for health reasons. I was really looking forward to seeing him. However, the show didn’t disappoint. The rest of the pros definitely kept the show moving forward anyway. His Season 29 partner Kaitlyn Bristowe hosted the show and did a fantastic job of connecting with the audience.
As they say in the business, the show must go on.
The Dancing With The Stars tour brings new and refreshing elements this year
The theme for the 2022 tour is “Dare To Be Different.” There were so many unique things about Season 30 that they knew they had to work that into the tour somehow. We saw an NBA player beat the odds and become a Mirrorball Trophy winner for the first time. And we also saw the first same-sex partnership in the show.
I knew Jenna Johnson and JoJo Siwa wouldn’t be on tour, but I was really thankful the cast chose to incorporate some of their routines into the performance. As a queer woman, it was really disheartening to see some of the hateful messages that some DWTS fans left in online comment threads during Season 30. Week after week, I felt like I saw the same hateful messages everywhere. It was always another slew of comments about how some people thought it was disgusting that two women were ballroom dancing together. But this is the message of the Dancing With The Stars tour this year — we power through and keep moving, even when we’re met with challenges.
My favorite part of the night was the routine to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” Each member of the cast had a brightly colored jacket. When they all stood together, they made a rainbow. I really appreciated that they kept the spirit of Season 30 moving and showed that everyone was welcome in the ballroom dance world. It felt good to see representation for the LGTBQ+ community on stage and I was really proud I got to see it.
I really hope DWTS continues to build and grow moving forward. We should strive to make a place for everyone at the table.
Daniella Karagach gives a spectacular live performance
Another favorite routine of mine was from the champion herself. Daniella Karagach and her husband Pasha Pashkov performed an insanely amazing routine to “Crazy In Love.” The chemistry was off the charts! At the end of the routine, I leaned over to my sister and whispered, “And THAT’S why she’s the champion.”
Daniella joined DWTS as a pro dancer during the first year I started covering the show for TV Shows Ace. I feel a sort of kinship to her in that way. She danced with Nelly that year and they made it to third place, but I knew I was witnessing the beginning of something special at that moment. I even wrote a “get to know Daniella” piece at the time because I felt like fans needed to learn more about her. It was hardly a surprise that she and Iman Shumpert managed to climb to the top and snag that Mirrorball Trophy.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you catch a few DWTS episodes here or there or are a hardcore deep diver like me. You’re really in for a remarkable experience.
If you’re interested in getting tickets to the 2022 Dancing With The Stars tour, there’s some good news for you. The tour runs through March 27 and is coming to many cities across the United States. Be sure to check out the official tour website and get the latest information on dates and ticket prices.
If you have the chance to go, don’t forget to let the pros how much you enjoyed the experience! I tagged Daniella on my Instagram stories and she gave me a little shoutout back.
