Alicia Witt has spoken for the first time about the death of her beloved parents, and shared some photos. In addition, she shares some details that may have been misrepresented about this very public story about her very private parents.

Hallmark star Alicia Witt went to Facebook and Instagram to address the death of her parents. She started with, “It still doesn’t feel real.”
An only child to parents Diane (née Pietro) and Robert Witt, both teachers, Witt is still clearly in shock. Her life has been in a whirlwind since her parents were discovered deceased just days before Christmas.
“It’s been a month since I got scared, not having heard back from them, and called to have them checked on. waiting, phone in hand, praying fervently that the next call would be from them, angry I’d gotten someone else involved. knowing as soon as I heard the detective’s voice on the other line that they were gone. knowing I would never hear their voices again. beginning the rest of my life of finding them on the breeze, in a song, in a dream.”
Being a public person with private parents has to be difficult. But, to have lost her parents in such a public way has to be painful. Witt has had to walk the fine line in sharing her grief, as well as how she found out about her parents in the first place.
There Has Already Been A Funeral For Witt’s Parents
Next, Alicia Witt shared that her parents have already been buried. She was able to go to Worcester without attracting any media attention. There, she was able to have a service and mourn her beloved parents, in complete privacy.

Moreover, she thanked those who shared stories about her parents. She described them as “brilliant educators, deeply kind, curious, intuitive, wise, young at heart, funny.”
The Circumstances Behind Alicia Witt’s Parents’ ‘Sudden Passing’
Next, Alicia Witt had to carefully navigate the circumstances around her parents’ death, as they were very private people. However, their death has been “fodder for press.” She felt the need to explain a few details.
First, the Nashville star revealed that she had not been “allowed” into her parents’ home in “well over a decade.”
Next, Witt revealed that her folks never allowed any workers into their home. She revealed that she “offered to have something repaired for them.” She even revealed that she “begged, cried, tried to reason with them.” She wanted them to move.
However, their response was to be “furious” with her, and tell her she had “no right to tell them how to live their lives and they had it all under control.”

Lastly, Alicia said that her parents “were not penniless.” She was very sentimental as she described them as “fiercely stubborn, beautifully original souls” who would not allow her to help. They wanted to do things “their own way.”
It seems that Alicia has been wracking her brain. She cannot think of what she could have done to prevent this tragedy. She realized that there was nothing she could have done differently, as they would have still made the exact same choice.
“I had no idea that their heat had gone out. I will never understand how or why they made the choice not to tell me this, not to let me help them with this. my heart is broken.
and even if I could have had a crystal ball and looked into the future- if I could have said to them ‘you are going to break my heart and the hearts of all who love you with a worst-case-scenario ending if you don’t let us help you’ – I still think they would have made the same choices. they weren’t willing to make different ones.”
How Did Alicia Witt’s Parents Die?
Many of Alicia Witt’s fans want to know how her beloved parents died. According to Telegram & Gazette, “Freezing temperatures, a malfunctioning furnace, a temporary space heater and a home in need of repairs” may have all been factors in the death of her parents. There were “no noxious gases released.” That takes away the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning.
The local paper shared that Robert And Diane Witt “were in failing health for some time before they were found dead.” However, there has not been a cause of death released.
Alicia Witt had not been able to reach her parents. Therefore, she contacted a relation to do a welfare check on her folks. When a detective called her, she realized her worst fears were realized.
