‘Bringing Up Bates’ Cancelation: Did Kelly See It Coming Months Ago?

Since UPtv pulled the plug on Bringing Up Bates on January 18, fans have raised many questions. The show’s eleventh season was set to debut on February 10. So, for many years now, the Bates family has relied on the show for income. But now, without the show, how will Gil and Kelly Bates pay the bills?

Gil is a pastor, so he brings in some money there. But fans assume that most of the family’s income has come from Bringing Up Bates for the past several years. While some of the older Bates kids have their own jobs or work as influencers on YouTube and Instagram, there are still several children living under Gil and Kelly’s roof.

Shortly before the cancellation went public, Kelly actually got a job. Does this mean she saw the cancellation coming?

Was Kelly Bates anticipating the loss of income?

As we reported, Erin Paine recently made the decision to leave the Bates Sisters Boutique. Now, the boutique is run by Whitney Bates and Carlin Stewart. With the announcement that Erin was leaving, however, the sisters revealed that Kelly would be joining them at the boutique.

In the business’s post about Erin’s departure, Carlin and Whitney wrote, “We are also excited to be bringing our sweet mother Kelly Bates @thebatesfam to help fill some of the roles that Erin had filled!” This was posted on November 23, 2021, about two months before the show was canceled.

So, because the Bates now need to make an income outside of their TV show, it’s possible that Kelly decided to pitch in at the boutique to help pay the bills. However, this may not be what actually happened.

Bringing Up Bates was canceled ‘abruptly.’

While it’s likely that the Bates family received a little bit of a heads up before the series was canceled, it doesn’t seem like they knew very far in advance. Filming and production were happening around the same time that the show was canceled.

Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball spoke with a source close to UPtv. She reports:

“According to my source, UPTV abruptly stopped production of season 11 of Bringing up Bate. The network had paid for filming in Italy, Nathan & Katie’s weddings, and other family announcements. All the footage was filmed & they were allegedly in the middle of the couch interviews. The network has spent ‘a ton of money’ on the new season.”

So, if Kelly knew months in advance and made arrangements to work at the boutique to bring in money, the network wouldn’t have continued filming this whole time. It wouldn’t make sense for them to keep filming if they knew they would be canceling the show.

It’s possible, however, that Kelly wanted to plan ahead and have a job for when the show ended eventually. But it doesn’t seem like her working at the boutique had anything to do with the Bringing Up Bates cancelation. There’s no way to know for sure how much the Bates family knew ahead of time.

So, do you think that the Bates family knew about the cancellation months in advance? Or do you think it’s purely a coincidence that Kelly joined the boutique a couple of months ago? 1. Wow, can’t believe this. as I was reading all this ,what my first thought was . Could it have anything to due with what’s going on with the Duggers. These two show’s are so different. If you think about it why would they take a show that was making money for them and seems to have plenty of that true fun loving family that most of us don’t . They really seem to enjoyed being together. I know I don’t get that with the other reality family’s.

  2. Poor writing Aubrey. You’re insinuating… you start by saying it looks like Kelly knew … then you start saying, oh, well, it’s not too likely she knew. … 🤦🏻‍♀️ Get your facts first. This sounded stupid. You obviously don’t know. Geez… Write on something you KNOW about. 🤔🤔🤔

  3. I think it’s just a sin that they just drop them on a dime after all the years of privacy they have given up without any notice and why did Erin drop out of the Boutique? I hope another network picks them up. This is one of the best programs on TV.

  4. I’m happy the show has been cancelled. I found them to be phony. After all there is more to life than just having babies.

    1. Apparently, at least a few of the male offspring showed up at the Capital on 1/6. They’ve claimed they were just “tourists”. I wonder if that had anything to do with it?

  5. You obviously haven’t watched the series. Gil has a very successful tree trimming business that most of the boys have been involved with throughout the years. This “opinion piece” was a complete waste of your time.
