‘When Calls The Heart’ Season 9 Premiere Delay Explained By Brian Bird
The When Calls The Heart Season 9 premiere date is a bit confusing to Hearties. For six straight seasons, Hearties could count on watching new stories about their favorite people in Hope Valley in the month of February.
However, Season 9 is not going to premiere until March. Add that there were mixed WCTH premiere dates in several Crown Media sources, this has been a minor fiasco.
Thankfully, the series co-creator, Brian Bird, has an explanation. He has shared why the Hallmark series is starting so late this year.
Here is the latest information.
Why Was When Calls The Heart Season 9 Premiere So Late?
On Wednesday, Hallmark announced that When Calls The Heart Season 9 is premiering on Sunday, March 6, at 8 p.m., Eastern. This was quite a surprise, as Hearties expect the series to premiere in February.
However, there is a good reason for the delay.
According to a tweet by Gina Christine, the premiere was delayed due to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
She wrote “S9 was indeed pushed back due to the Winter Olympics, as some suggested. #Hearties #LucaBeth #S9WillBeDevine @hallmarkchannel @SCHeartHome.
When Calls The Heart Co-Creator Explains Why Season 9 Premiering So Late
Along with Gina Christine’s When Calls The Heart Season 9 premiere delay tweet, she included a screenshot from Brian Bird, the series co-creator. He explained the decision behind the March premiere date.
#Hearties…as you know…Season 9 of When Calls The Heart premieres on Sunday night, March 6, at 8pm/7central. Some of you have asked about the push from February to March, so I wanted to let you know that the Hallmark Channel took great care with deciding on a perfect time to launch the new season for a very good reason:
We want Season 9 to distinguish itself in the TV landscape at a time when #Hearties can watch the new episodes without having to choose between Hope Valley and the wonder Winter Olympics (or being assaulted by Season 11 of the zombies running amok and messing up the world).
Bottom line…this push is for your #Hearties because you are the reason for the season…9.
To sum it up, the Hallmark Channel spent some quality time making this decision. They did not want #Hearties to choose between Hope Valley and Ice Dancing, or Speed Skating, or any other opportunity to cheer on these incredible athletes.
Hope Valley is going to start in March after the Winter Olympic hoopla is over. Moreover, this will be a great season.
WCTH Season 9 Includes New Character Mei Sou
Although Hearties have to wait an extra month before When Calls The Heart Season 9 premieres, Hallmark has already shared that there is a new Hope Valley resident, Mei Sou. She is portrayed by Amanda Wong.
Moreover, it looks like she may be a certain Mountie’s love interest.
Don’t miss the premiere of When Calls The Heart Season 9 on Sunday, March 6, at 8 p.m. Eastern, on the Hallmark Channel.
