Val Chmerkovskiy’s Former Partner ‘Isn’t Surprised’ He Wants To Exit ‘DWTS’
If you follow Dancing With The Stars, you probably heard that Val Chmerkovskiy plans to retire. However, that isn’t entirely set in stone yet. If anyone has a flair for the dramatics, it’s the Chermkovskiy brothers. However, Val’s Season 29 partner Monica Aldama says she isn’t surprised Val said he wants to leave the show.

Val Chmerkovskiy is definitely one busy guy
Monica Aldama is one of the stars of the hit Netflix docuseries, Cheer. She and Val finished in 10th place out of 15 couples, but they got to know each other pretty well during their time on the show.
“I’m definitely grateful that I had the opportunity to work with him. I think we both taught each other a lot,” Monica told Us Weekly in a recent interview. “I’m not surprised at hearing that just because I know he’s kind of an entrepreneur himself and he has a lot of different ideas.”
The Cheer star went on to reveal that she and Val still keep in contact. She knows that he’s a very talented individual and has many doors open to him moving forward.
“He really is very talented. He’s very creative, not just in dance, but he’s just very artistic and very creative,” Monica continued. “He could really honestly do so many different things. I don’t have a clue what his plan is, but he does own a lot of dance schools around the country.”
In fact, that’s one reason why Val and his wife Jenna Johnson won’t be on the Dancing With The Stars tour this winter. Instead of touring with their costars this year, they’re doing a program called “24/7 Dance” where they will travel around the country and teach dance to children.
There are many new horizons for the Ukrainian dancer to explore
Even though Val says he wants to exit Dancing With The Stars, he also says there is no bad blood with the show. And he definitely isn’t retiring from dancing. It really just seems like he wants to explore other projects.
“I’m going to promote dance and whether it’s at Dance With Me or a local dance studio, go and dance. That’s why I’m passionate about the show, whether the show moves on with me or without me, which I’m not saying it’s going to move on without me,” Val said during his appearance on The Bellas Podcast. “I’m saying I love the show, genuinely, but I want to see it [continue] for a long time. It’s good for dance, it’s good for my passion, it’s good for my business. It’s good for life!”
However, Jenna Johnson hopes Val will return. She said in a recent interview she will keep dancing on DWTS, even if Val ultimately decides to leave.

I know it’ll be pretty disappointing for everyone who loves Val, but at least he’s not going to quit his dancing. It’s understandable that him and Jenna are busy people and want to do other stuff. Also speaking of Jenna, at least she’ll still be on the show. I respect whatever they have to do. Also of course I’ll still watch the show! It’s awesome and I’m glad it’s around. My fave dancer is Gleb, and I support all the others!
