On Saturday, Daniel Lissing went to Instagram just before When Hope Calls Christmas aired on GAC Family. This is right before they are about to film a highly anticipated reunion.
He shared a photo of himself, along with Lori Loughlin. They were reprising their WCTH roles of Jack Thornton and Abigail Stanton. Lissing is wearing his Mountie red serge, while Loughlin is wearing a festive lavender coat and deep purple scarf.
He looks pensive, his eyes a bit stormy. Meanwhile, Lori’s eyes look bright, as she shares a half-smile. They are on set, with cameras right behind them.
Daniel’s caption read, “One last time in the red…”

What Happened In When Hope Calls Christmas?
At the very beginning of When Hope Calls Christmas Part 2, we see Abigail peering inside of the general store, where she sent her letter to Henry Gowen. She hears a voice in the near distance assuring her that the letter is on its way.
Abigail looks, and thanks the “commander.” Then is taken aback. It is Jack Thornton! He died a few years ago, leaving Elizabeth Thatcher Thornton widowed, and Little Jack without a father.
She is shocked at seeing him there, and he admits he doesn’t understand. However, he has a message for Elizabeth.
“Will you let her know that I am happy that she is moving on with her life?” Jack then continues. “And let her know that she is doing a fine job with Little Jack, and I cannot be more proud of both of them.”
Abigail cries, as she exclaims, “Oh, Jack.” Then adds, “There is so much that she wants to tell you.”
Jack doesn’t answer this but continues with his request. “And one more thing. You tell her that true love never dies. I know that now more than ever.”
There is some Field Of Dreams moments, including when he mentions twice how great the town is, then he walks towards the Christmas tree and disappears.
Then, Abigail wakes up with a start! She was dreaming.
Will Daniel Lissing Play Jack Thornton Again?
One question Hearties may ask is whether Daniel Lissing will return to his role of Jack Thornton. It doesn’t seem fully clear whether he would do it again.
When he spoke to Entertainment Tonight, he told Deidre Behar he was open to conversations. However, when he recently spoke to US Magazine, it seems that he has moved on. Moreover, that the WCTH story has moved on.
To tell you the truth, I left the show for a reason, and I moved past this character. I don’t think that there’s any way to bring this character back in any kind of substantial way, based on the stories that When Calls the Heart is telling. Elizabeth’s character on When Calls the Heart has moved on. People have accepted it,” the actor said. “I don’t think that I would want to go backward anyway. Just personally, of course, I’ve got my eye to the future and some different kinds of projects and parts that I’m keen on playing.
