‘The Expanse’: Season 6 Is A Welcome Return To Form

Amos

The Expanse is streaming on Amazon Prime. Fan excitement is through the roof to be joining the crew of the Rocinante one last time. Weaponized meteors strike the Earth. With so many plotlines completed, the focus is sure to be on the warring factions. Humanity is more dived than ever. Shohreh Aghdashloo plays Avasarala dealing with the Belter’s Free Navy attack on Earth. The crew is already deep into the fight in the Belt. What can be expected from the show’s final adventure into the ring-space? The first episode “Strange Dogs” positions everyone in precarious circumstances several months following the initial attack on Earth.

The Belt

Relatable villains are the key to a thoughtful story. The primary antagonist, Marco Inaros, has certainly done some despicable things. He is also a strong leader for exploited people. The war rages on in a way that only the space opera could. The heroic crew finds their way into the Belt on a scouting mission. Dominique Tipper revisits her role as Naomi Nagata. After the Season 5 antics, she is safe aboard the Rocinante. She is also the mother of Inaros’ son Filip who helped orchestrate the attack on Earth, killing millions of people. Naomi is having some monumental family troubles. They are roughly the size of the solar system.

Trouble on Earth, trouble in The Expanse

Inaros and the Free Navy continue to pummel the earth with rocks in the first episode. The devastation leaves the world on edge. Now, millions have been picked off by the angry factions in the outer rings of humanity in space. Chrisjen Avasarala and her right-hand “Bobbie” Draper attempt to deal with the problems while the belt keeps the Earth Navy pinned down. Although, some good news comes it may not be enough.

Episodes to release weekly

The second episode of Season 6 is titled “Azure Dragon”. Releasing on December 24th, fans will have to wait. Amazon has chosen to release the final season weekly. With only six planned episodes fans are disappointed with the shortened run. However, the authors’ Twitter suggests that it is for the better. They seem to be grateful for even having the chance to do Season 6. However, their Twitter also makes for a good read if you want to learn more about the show’s untold plot points.  Along with dispelling some odd rumors about a replacement for a character they point theorists in a meaningful direction.
