Is it the end of Vanderpump Rules as we know it? Of course, this isn’t the first time that the cancelation rumors have been swirling. Fan previously assumed that Season 8 was the last season. The season finale felt more like a series finale with everyone going their separate ways.

The cast members reunited for the explosive Season 8 reunion, in which no one ended on good terms. By June 2020, Bravo fired original cast members Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute, along with newbies Brett Caprioni and Max Boyens. Six months later, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright announced their respective exits.

Vanderpump Rules Season 9 premiered in late September with dismal ratings. Fans can tell that things haven’t been the same since the firings. The show has shifted away from people who work at SUR to a group of friends who may not even be involved with the restaurant business. With the plummeting ratings, fans wonder if it’s time to say bye to the show.

Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute missing from the show

Some VPR fans miss the OGs, including Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute. There’s no doubt that these two ladies brought some drama to the show. Fans agree that firing the original cast members wasn’t the right decision after all. The network fired Stassi and Kristen for filing a false police report on their former Black cast member Faith Stowers.

Bravo also ended its relationship with Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni after their past racially sensitive social media posts came back to haunt them. While Max and Brett weren’t original cast members, they helped shift the show into a new perspective. Most of Season 8 was focused on the drama surrounding the new cast members. Fans took to the Vanderpump Rules Reddit to share their thoughts on the new season.

  • “They never should have fired all those original cast members. I completely understand that they made some horrible decisions and deserved to be punished. But this is reality tv….it’s supposed to be real.”
  • “I agree, they should not have fired the others. I think it would have been interesting to see the fallout of their actions play out on TV.”
  • “They should have never fired half the cast. They caved to the internet outrage mob and this is the result. 8 sucked cause the new people they brought on sucked and had some bizarre fake love triangle that made no sense. It would have been cool to see the evolution into parenting, but we will never likely know now. Bravo ruined a good thing.”

The original Redditor of that thread claims that the reality show “has gone to s***.” Most agree that the show was one of the best things on Bravo. It had unforgettable moments that made you want to watch. Now, most claim they space out or look at their phone whenever it’s on.

Vanderpump Rules fans ready to say goodbye

Overall, fans think the show is so bad that Bravo should cancel it. The news of the drop in ratings has trickled onto social media. That is something that even the network can’t ignore. Some have wondered about the future of the show. While most are looking forward to the next season, others think it’s done.

  • “It needs to end. I feel like it’s been a chore keeping up with this new season.”
  • “Nothing on the show feels authentic anymore. I know it’s reality television but almost every single scene feels scripted, produced, forced, fake. RIP VPR indeed.”
  • “Yeah, I think it’s done. I’m watching the new season and I cannot stand Lala. So fake.”
  • “I can’t even bring myself to watch it. I’ve just been keeping up with it by Reddit and my favorite Pods. TBH I’m not even curious to see it. It’s just so done.”
  • “I still think it would have been over, had they kept Jax, Kristen, and Stassi. It’s just done.”

Lala Kent expressed uncertainty over returning for another season. She’s not sure if she wants to return since she feels “isolated” from the rest of the cast. The new season may focus on the Toms rather than Lala and James’s split from their respective fiances.
