Below Deck star Captain Lee shared a touching message with Summer House star Carl Radke. In summer 2020, Carl’s brother Curtis died from an accidental drug overdose. Captain Lee understands what Carl is going through this holiday season. In July 2019, his son Joshua also died from an accidental drug overdose.
Lee found his son dead in his apartment. He’s still not over the sudden death of his son to this day. Lee even gets choked up when he talks about it on the reality series. As for Carl, he revealed that his brother’s death inspired him to work on his sobriety. He even opted out of appearing on the Summer House spinoff Winter House because of the temptations on the show.
Below Deck star Captain Lee Rosbach’s Thanksgiving message
The Below Deck star took to his blog to share an important Thanksgiving message. He reflected on the difficulties some families face around the holidays. Lee shared some words of hope for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. The sea captain also acknowledge the crew members and the Bravo family members.
“To all the Below Deck family. Have the best Thanksgiving ever,” the seasoned Below Deck star wrote. Remember the empty seats at the table, but be very thankful for what you still have, and we all have so much, if we take the time to slow down a bit and just look around and see that we are blessed with so much and learn to appreciate what we do have, not always what we don’t.”
The reality star ended his blog post with a special message for Summer House star Carl Radke. “And to my friend Carl, stay strong, very proud of you. All the best peeps, Fair winds, and following seas,” Lee wrote.
However, this isn’t the first time that Lee showed his support for Carl. Summer House co-star and Carl’s good friend Lindsay Hubbard revealed during the reunion that Lee reached out to Carl after his brother’s passing. Carl was struggling and newly sober at that vulnerable time in his life.
Summer House star is working on his sobriety
Carl also shared what Captain Lee Rosbach told him amid the news of his sobriety.
“I’ll never forget you telling me, ‘You can’t go wrong doing the right thing, it may not be comfortable or easy, but it’s still the right thing to do, and doing the right thing is what will make you the most comfortable with the man in the mirror,'” Carl recalled the Below Deck star telling him on Twitter. “You’re the best Captain Lee.”
Earlier this month, Carl gave his fans an update on his sobriety. He embarked on a “solo trip to Tulum” where he spent “a couple days focusing on myself and recharging.”
Carl said that this year has been “emotional, challenging, yet pivotal.” Rather than partying and dating, he’s been focused on “meditation, yoga, sleep, healthy eating, working out, reading, listening to music.”
Carl Radke wants to continue to maintain his sobriety. Hopefully, Captain Lee’s message will inspire him to keep up the good work.
