This Christmas, Hallmark is about to embark on a totally new idea. For Countdown to Christmas 2021, they made two connected movies, starring two real-life sisters, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and Ashley Williams. These are the highly anticipated Sister Swap movies.

In these movies, two sisters trade towns over the Christmas holidays. While each movie is complete on its own, there are shared scenes in each movie that adds a lot of fun for viewers.

Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday is the first movie. It stars Kimberly Williams-Paisley (A Nashville Christmas Carol, Father of The Bride), Ashley Williams (Never Kiss A Man In A Christmas Sweater, How I Met Your Mother), Mark Deklin (Designated Survivor, Meet Me At Christmas), Susan Yeagley (Parks and Recreation, Mike Tyson Mysteries), Kevin Nealon (Weeds, Man With A Plan), Jacob Buster (Colony, Let The Right One In), Keith Robinson (Redemption In Cherry Springs, Saints and Sinners),  and Anna Holbrook (Another World, The Blacklist).

Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Ashley Williams have been giddy with excitement over these movies. What is Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday about?

What Is Hallmark’s Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday About?

According to the Hallmark press release, Jennifer (Williams-Paisley) and Meg Swift (Williams) are sisters who couldn’t be closer despite living in different cities. Jennifer runs a successful restaurant in Salt Lake City. She had started it with her late husband. Now, Jennifer is raising her teenage son Simon (Buster) on her own.

Jennifer is thrilled when Meg comes to Salt Lake City for a fun Christmas weekend. Meg agrees to stay in the city and help out at the restaurant while Jennifer and Simon return home to Hazelwood for the holiday.

Both sisters are wistful for one more Christmas at The Madison. This is the local movie theater owned by their Uncle Dave (Nealon). The trouble is the theater is for sale and in need of repairs.

With help from Eric (Deklin), Jennifer’s former high school debate team rival, and the community, they just might pull off one last encore. As she and Eric work together, Jennifer is reminded that new possibilities are both where you least expect them and exactly where you left them.

New Hallmark Movie Features New Brad Paisley Song

Hallmark’s Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday features the song “Last Year.” Kelleigh Bannen performs the song that was written by Grammy Award-winning country star Brad Paisley. Paisley is Kimberly Williams-Paisley’s husband.

She shared with People the news that her talented husband wrote a song for her movie. “My husband wrote a song for one of the movies. It’s in my movie, and it’s such a good song.”
