Kylie Jenner took to social media to break her silence on the Astroworld deaths. Travis Scott’s music festival made headlines on early Saturday morning, November 6. Eight people died after a stampede took place at the event. Things got out of hand at the show, which led to this tragedy.

The pregnant reality star released a statement on social media. The case is currently under investigation. Critics argue that this wasn’t a family-friendly event since the victims are children and teens. The 24-year-old attended the festival with their 3-year-old daughter, Stormi Webster, and sister Kendall Jenner.

“Travis and I are broken and devastated,” Kylie Jenner wrote via her Instagram Story on late Saturday, November 6. “My thoughts and prayers are with all who lost their lives, were injured or affected in anyway [sic] by yesterday’s events. And also for Travis who I know cares deeply for his fans and the Houston community.”

In her message, Kylie claims they “weren’t aware of any fatalities” until news broke. She said that Travis Scott wouldn’t “have continued filming or performing” if he knew what happened. She sent her “deepest condolences to all the families during this difficult time.” Also, Kylie “will be praying for healing of everyone who has been impacted.”

Fans criticized the 30-year-old hip-hop artist for not ending his livestream. Instead, he continued to perform as the tragedy happened. In the clips shared on social media, festival goers scream for help and to stop the show. Yet, Travis just carried on, as if nothing happened.

However, during Apple Music’s livestream, he did stop to ask security to help a guest who passed out. Kylie Jenner shared several videos from the event, which include a shot of flashing lights from an ambulance. She too received criticism for acting as if nothing happened. On Saturday, Travis broke his silence about the tragedy.

He shared a black-and-white video to his Instagram Story. He rubbed his forehead to express his distress. The entertainer says he plans to help the families. He even tweeted that he’s “absolutely devastated” by what happened, even though he’s encouraged this behavior before.
