RHOC fans know that the former reality star is often rife with controversy. However, in the past, Kelly would cause trouble for the things she said to her co-stars.

Over time, things have gotten political. Fans noticed a shift in the Bravo alum when she started dating Rick Leventhal. The former Fox News correspondent and the television personality couldn’t get enough of each other. Kelly started sharing controversial views on COVID-19, face masks, racial injustice, and other things.

Kelly Dodd has made herself a controversial figure over the years. Yet, she ended up losing her orange placeholder on The Real Housewives of Orange County. Bravo fans called for her firing and they won. Kelly has made a name for herself by shocking people on the reality series.

However, it was never quite like this. She would just say things to rile up her co-stars in order to start fights with them. Now, she’s creating headlines for the things that she says and does on social media. While she’s no longer part of RHOC, she’s still keeping her name in the press.

For example, Kelly is in an ongoing feud with Heather Dubrow, who’s returning to the new season. Since then, she decided to stir up trouble on Halloween. The former water entrepreneur wanted to wear a costume she know would cause a reaction out of her fans and followers on social media. Some fans assumed Kelly would wear an offensive costume.

So, this should come as no surprise. Kelly’s costume and that of her husband Rick Levanthal were controversial. Even one Instagram user claimed that she was “so thirsty” for attention, which is why she chose the costume. According to Kelly, she had a good reason to wear it.

RHOC alum claims her heritage

Kelly Dodd wore a Native American costume for Halloween, complete with a headdress. Meanwhile, Rick Levanthal dressed up as a cowboy. Some fans noticed that he was poking fun at Alec Baldwin, who was involved in the tragic accidental shooting of Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film, Rust. In her Instagram post, Kelly noted that she knew she would cause controversy with her costume choice.

“2021 Halloween highlights! For you haters, I embrace my Native American heritage,” Kelly Dodd wrote. “I think the fashion is beautiful & this was a tribute & celebration.”

However, fans took to Kelly’s post to slam her as insensitive and offensive. Some asked why she chose Halloween to embrace her heritage rather than on Thanksgiving or on Indigenous Peoples’ Day. “This isn’t gonna end well…” one user wrote. Another labeled Kelly as “So thirsty.” A third called her “tone deaf” in all caps.

Other fans went after Rick for making light of Alec Baldwin’s situation. He claimed that he was “celebrating the great American film actor Alec Baldwin.” Ever since the news of the tragedy broke, the former news reporter slammed the comedian on social media. Rick argued that he was not “trying to offend anyone, except Alec Baldwin. He’s a jerk and deserves all the heat he’s getting.”
