Colton Underwood Makes Shocking Confession On ‘GMA’
Earlier this week, Good Morning America teased an upcoming interview with Colton Underwood. The former Bachelor had been staying out of the public eye for months after legal issues with ex Cassie Randolph.
The promo promised a bombshell confession from Underwood. What did he say?
Colton Underwood Comes Out As Gay
Bachelor Nation first met Colton Underwood as a contestant in Becca Kufrin’s season of The Bachelorette. He was later named lead for Season 23 of The Bachelor. He had one of the most dramatic reactions to contestant Cassie Randolph leaving the show on her own accord. Underwood literally jumped a fence and disappeared from producers for a short time.
After returning to filming, Underwood sent his final two contestants home and begged Cassie Randolph for another chance. That relationship lasted a little over a year but the drama wasn’t over.
A few months later, Randolph filed a restraining order, accusing her ex of stalking her and putting a tracking device on her car. She dropped the restraining order a month later.
During his time as The Bachelor, Colton Underwood faced allegations that he was gay. He repeatedly denied the rumors.
But on Wednesday, April 14, he revealed his truth: he is gay.
He was interviewed by Robin Roberts for a segment on Good Morning America.
Does Colton Underwood Regret Doing The Bachelor?
Robin Roberts addressed the elephant in the room – why go on The Bachelor if you’re not into women? Colton Underwood said he understands why fans and his contestants feel misled. While that wasn’t his intention, he does regret the way he handled his time on the show.
He said that he wished he hadn’t “dragged people into my own mess.” Underwood expresses his regrets but also gives his thanks to the women who appeared on his season. He said that without them, he wouldn’t be who he is today.

While Colton Underwood feels the “happiest and healthiest” he’s ever been, it didn’t happen overnight. He addresses the dark thoughts that nearly took his life. The former football player admits to Robin Roberts that he struggled with suicidal thoughts. He confesses to “driving too close” to cliffs, hoping he might go off.
Colton Underwood always knew he was gay, but he didn’t want to accept it. He reveals that he knew at age six and again when he was in high school.
However, he went to great lengths to hide the fact that he was gay from himself and everyone in his life.
Us Weekly reports that Colton Underwood’s dad once questioned him about finding gay porn in his browser history.
Underwood wrote about it in his book, First Time: Finding Myself and Looking for Love on Reality TV. He shrugged off his dad’s questions by saying he was just curious. The topic didn’t come up again until recently when Underwood came out to his dad.
He told Robin Roberts that his dad’s response was one he’s heard a lot: “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” His dad’s second question was “How can I help?”
After the segment with Colton Underwood aired, Robin Roberts revealed to co-hosts Michael Strahan and George Stephanopoulos that Colton’s dad was present during the interview. He told Roberts how proud he is of his son.
What Does He Have to Say to Cassie Randolph?
Ahead of the GMA interview, many Bachelor Nation fans were not happy with ABC. They didn’t feel it was right of the network to give an alleged stalker a platform. Colton Underwood vaguely addressed the behavior at the end of his relationship with Cassie Randolph.
Underwood said that he was sorry for the “bad choices” he made during and after their relationship. But was he ever in love with her?
He told Robin Roberts that “yes,” he was absolutely in love with “everything about her.”

Cassie Randolph has yet to respond to Colton Underwood coming out as gay or his apology to her.
There is speculation that Colton Underwood is working on a project with Netflix.
