Yellowstone is one of the most popular television dramas there is. The series follows the Dutton family as they fight to protect their massive cattle ranch. Lead by patriarch John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, the family faces attacks from all sides. Hedge funds as well as out-of-state developers and even the local reservation all want to take a piece of the ranch. Season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger as John Dutton sat bleeding on the ground. The family was under attack as a ruthless hedge fund manager threatened to carve up the Yellowstone to make way for an airport. The constant attacks on the ranch beg a serious question. Will the Yellowstone still exist when the series concludes?

The Fate Of Yellowstone

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is a master storyteller. His ability to capture the emotion of a story is remarkable. He has certainly captured the attention of family everywhere. However, fans will be disappointed if they hope to see Yellowstone go on forever. Sheridan himself has stated that he already knows how the story will end. Originally meant to be a feature film, Yellowstone has always had an ending. Sheridan states,

“I know how the series ends, and you have to move in a straight line toward that end. You can’t walk in circles, waiting to get there, because the show will stagnate. So, you have to keep moving forward, and there have to be consequences in the world, and there has to be an evolution toward a conclusion.”

Sheridan has also described the series as a tragedy. It is entirely possible that the series ends in heartache. The death of John Dutton has widely been speculated by fans of the series. The idea that the characters of the series are safe is simply not true. An example of this fact might be remembering that John Dutton has more than four children. However, his son Lee Dutton was killed in the first season of Yellowstone. Questions surrounding the lives of John, Kayce, as well as Beth certainly arose after the Season 3 Finale. Fans would like to think that Tate Dutton will one day take over the ranch. However, he may never get the chance.

Hope

It is understandable if the thought of the Yellowstone ranch crumbling causes heartache. However, Taylor Sheridan has made a statement fans may feel comforted by. He states his vision is for the series to end “on an upswing as opposed to… a descent.”

Would fans truly feel this way if it ends with the Yellowstone destroyed? It is hard to imagine this is the route Sheridan would choose. However, anything is possible. Be sure to check back with TV Shows Ace for more news and updates.
