Call To Make Abigail Heringer Next ‘Bachelorette’ Reaches Fever Pitch

Shortly after Abigail Heringer went home on the latest episode of The Bachelor, she became a trending topic on Twitter. Many viewers felt her departure from the show was unfair and premature. She was an early fan-favorite after she bluntly told Matt James that she’s deaf.

During the cocktail party later that night, she vulnerably opened up about her deafness. Her willingness to share earned her the First Impression Rose (and first kiss) from Matt James.

What Went Wrong with Bachelor Matt James?

Getting the First Impression Rose is sometimes a clear indication for who will receive the Final Rose. ET reports that in 16 seasons of The Bachelorette, six of the First Impression Rose winners went on to win the Final Rose.

That’s clearly not happening to Abigail. During Episode 7, she initiated a conversation with Matt James about if he sees a future with her. He reluctantly admitted that he did not. During her final interview in the car, Abigail said something many people can relate to – that the men she dates always realize what they want in life, but it’s never with her.

Even Bachelor Nation’s Mike Johnson (Bachelorette, Season 13) could relate, inviting her to let him help her find “her forever.”

Along with Katie Thurston, Abigail Heringer has been a front-runner fan choice for Season 17 of The Bachelorette. Earlier this month, spoiler guru Reality Steve reported that Katie was named the next lead during the Women Tell All special taping. Fans won’t see if that prediction comes true for another few weeks.

Katie Thurston was sent home during Episode 5.

After Matt James broke Abigail Heringer’s heart, fans wanted her as the next Bachelorette more than ever. In the hours after the episode the hashtag #AbigailforBachelorette was trending on Twitter.

Many fans demand that she be given a second shot at finding love. Check out just a few of the hundreds of tweets using that hashtag.

ABC Stays Mum On Next Bachelorette

So far, ABC has not commented either way on the next Bachelorette. They are busy weathering the backlash from Chris Harrison’s recent interview with Rachel Lindsay on Extra. In the interview Chris Harrison was trying to defend Bachelor contestant – and rumored winner – Rachael Kirkconnell from allegations of racism. It didn’t end well for him. In fact, he took a step back from his hosting duties after the severe public backlash.

Keep watching The Bachelor Mondays on ABC to watch the rest of Matt James’ journey.
