TLC & HGTV Will Soon Be Available For Streaming, Here’s How
Missing out on your favorite TLC and HGTV shows because you don’t have cable? In just a month, all of your favorite reality TV shows on TLC and HGTV (as well as a wealth of other networks) will be available for streaming. As we just recently reported, none other than Discovery has decided to get in on the streaming service business. They decided to take a page from the playbook of Disney Plus and are officially called discovery+.
This is more than just the Discovery Channel
Now, we know what you are thinking when you see the name Discovery Plus. You instantly think of the Discovery Channel. You think of shows like:
- Gold Rush
- Deadliest Catch
- Naked & Afraid
- Alaskan Bush People
- American Chopper
- Monster Garage
This thinking isn’t incorrect. According to the scrolling picture of titles on the Discovery Plus website, you can expect Discovery Channel shows to be featured on this streaming service. But, it is really so much more than that. There are a lot of other networks within the Discovery family. For example, did you know TLC and HGTV are part of the discovery channel?
TLC shows will be a part of the new streaming service
We already know Sister Wives star Janelle Brown confused fans when she promoted the new streaming service on Twitter. Fans panicked that TLC was dropping Sister Wives or passing it off to Discovery. Nope! TLC will retain ownership of Sister Wives. It will just also be available for streaming on Discovery Plus! And, you’ll be able to enjoy a lot of other TLC shows including:
- OutDaughtered
- Counting On
- 7 Little Johnstons
- My Big Fat Fabulous Life
- 90 Day Fiancé
- Dr. Pimple Popper
- Little People, Big World
- My 600-lb Life
And, many other TLC shows!

HGTV shows will also be a part of the new streaming service
Naturally, you can also expect all of your HGTV favorites that you may have missed as they’ve slowly been pulled from other streaming services including:
- Property Brothers
- Fixer Upper
- Love it or List It
- Flip or Flop
And, many other HGTV shows.
Other networkers that will be featured on this streaming service include: Food Network, Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, OWN, and ID.
Will you have to pay anything for Discovery Plus?
Unfortunately, most networks aren’t willing to invest in a streaming service and then offer it to people for free. Discovery Plus is included in that. So, if you want to watch the shows this service has to offer… You are going to have to pay for it. That being said, they are offering their services at a very competitive rate. And, it’s significantly cheaper than most other streaming services right now. Here’s what their website has to say about the cost:
discovery+ will be competitively priced to complement your favorite streaming services. Plans will start at $4.99 per month, with an ad-free version available for $6.99 per month.”
Unsurprisingly, a lot of people have pretty mixed feelings about this streaming service. This biggest concern being amid the pandemic… Who can really afford another streaming service? Especially for someone who already has all of the other ones.
