‘The Grand Tour’ Madagascar Episode Trailer Shows Treasure Hunt
Have you seen The Grand Tour’s new trailer from their Madagascar trip? The Amazon Prime special is called “A Massive Hunt.” Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are back for another Season 4 episode, with crazy cars, laughs and some beautiful scenery.
Here are some of the details we know now.
What The Grand Tour’s Madagascar Trailer Shows
The Grand Tour is back with the new special, entitled “A Massive Hunt.” Have the former Top Gear trio returned to road vehicles again, after being in seaworthy vessels in “Seamen“? Absolutely.
According to “The Grand Tour: A Massive Hunt” trailer, Clarkson is driving a Bentley Continental GT, Hammond is driving a Ford Focus RS, and May looks quite happy driving his Caterham Seven. Everything looks grand until they deal with the rugged terrain of Madagascar.
‘The Grand Tour: A Massive Hunt’ Is A Treasure Hunt
In The Grand Tour Season 4 trailer for “A Massive Hunt,” Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are on a treasure hunt. Think: Pirate treasure, and a good “arr matey.” They need to “crack the code and find the loot.”
Hammond seems to especially delve into his inner pirate, as he does his best pirate talk, shopping for t-shirts in Madagascar. Looks like they will be getting out of their car for some metal detecting on the beach as well.
According to IMDb, this is the official synopsis.
“Following their perilous watery escapades in the Mekong, the intrepid trio find themselves back on four wheels for their latest adventure on the exotic islands of Reunion and Madagascar. Armed with three sports cars, Richard, James and Jeremy believe they are in for a cushy road trip and fun escapades as they arrive in Reunion and race on the world’s most expensive piece of tarmac, a jaw dropping ring road built out in the sea. But a bizarre challenge from Mr Wilman propels them across the ocean to Madagascar, where they must tackle the toughest road in the world, in some of the most extremely modded cars they have ever built, in order to complete one of their toughest quests to date. The whole grueling adventure ends in an explosive climax.”

What Amazon’s IMDb Now Says About ‘A Massive Hunt’
In 2020, The Grand Tour fans have been regularly consulting IMDb, Amazon’s own movie and television database for information. Despite the fact that it has always been incorrect, it may be interesting to see what it has to say now.
First, IMDb confirms that “A Massive Hunt” will be airing. They confirmed the December 18 air date. In addition, the listing shows the Madagascar episode is 90 minutes long. This is great.
In addition, “The Grand Tour Presents: A Massive Hunt” is Episode 2 of the fourth season. That is huge, as it was previously, incorrectly listed as part of Season 5.
The Grand Tour’s Amazon Contract Is For Four Specials A Year
Why is it important that “The Grand Tour Presents: A Massive Hunt” is part of Season 4? This has been very confusing to fans following the show. Last year, Jeremy Clarkson announced that they were no longer going to be in the tent. That means no more stars in a reasonably priced car or chit chats about vehicles. That is because viewers just skipped over all of that.
Instead, viewers loved the travel adventures. So, starting with Season 4, instead of going to the tent, the intrepid, and aging trio are now only filming “specials.” All of these specials are focused on a travel destination. They were contracted out for four episodes each season. Right now, they are contracted through Season 5. Whether there will be a Season 6 is yet to be confirmed.
Subsequently, The Grand Tour Season 4 Episode 1 was “Seamen,” in Southeast Asia. The upcoming Madagascar episode is Episode 2. But, thanks to Covid-19, everything has fallen apart. They planned to travel to Russia for Episode 3. They planned to film it in March 2020.
Although everything was paid for before the entourage set foot in Russia, the trip was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Although they promise to film that episode one day, no one knows if they can travel to Russia in March 2021. In addition, they really cannot film anywhere else right now, due to the lockdowns.
But, the trio did film in Scotland back in October. Hopefully, that wait won’t be so long.
“The Grand Tour Presents: A Massive Hunt” will air on Amazon Prime, Friday, December 18.
