’90 Day Fiance’ Sumit’s Dad Says He Will Block The Marriage To Jenny Legally
90 Day Fiance: The Other Way star Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh have had their share of challenges. And it doesn’t seem to be over yet, the two are starring straight at another issue on the horizon.
Sumit is finally free to marry Jenny
On Sunday’s episode, Fans watched as Sumit was excitedly granted a divorce from his first wife. Sumit’s ex-wife also filed charges against him for physical and mental abuse, which was thrown out by the judge. Sumit agreed to the arranged marriage by his parents and tried to make it work for over 2 years. The two were both unhappy in the marriage and Summit said he was suicidal. Sumit’s dad agreed to pay the $20,000
for the divorce, but when asked to pay the money back, Sumit replied, he would pay him back eventually.
I need the money now, not ‘eventually’
Sumit’s dad needs his son to pay him back the money as soon as possible. Sumit wants to work but Jenny doesn’t want him to. She doesn’t know the language and the two don’t live in the safest area.
They will not get our blessing
Sumit’s father bluntly said that he nor Sumit’s mother would ever approve of the relationship, mostly because of the large age gap. He said he would even block Sumit legally from marrying Jenny. This brings up a big issue for the two since Sumit needs to marry Jenny for her to stay in India with him.
Sumit makes a little effort
Sumit said he would have to work three jobs just to pay for the divorce and have a life with Jenny. He is working as a chef at a restaurant, but not full-time. He also attempted to get work with his friend for a marketing job. The job would only pay summit a mere $100 a week.
Sumit and Jenny won’t listen to his parents
ET interviewed Jenny and asked about what could happen if they decided without his parents’ approval. “Well, the consequences would probably not be good,” Jenny said. “His mom already said what she would do, what would happen if we did something like that. She has said it in the past, she has said it again, you’ll find out when the season starts up again.”
Speculation from fans
90 Day Fiance fans have speculated the couple is already engaged since Sumit’s Instagram post shows the two together and Jenny wearing a ring on her left ring finger. When a fan asked about the right, they got back the simple reply of “its a secret.” Many fans think this reply was an acknowledgment of an engagement or marriage.
