‘Bachelor’ Matt James A ‘Step In The Right Direction,’ Says Chris Harrison
In mid-September, Matt James started filming for his season of Bachelor on the ABC show. Recall, originally he got slated for The Bachelorette as a contestant for the heart of Clare Crawley. Then, along came the cancel culture when Bravo led the way in firings for racial actions. Soon, Matt as the lead for Bachelor made headline news. Well received as an inclusive casting, Chris Harrison now said that ABC continues to get “better” in this area.
Bachelor star Matt James started filming already
We reported that Matt went to the “Nemacolin Resort in Farmington.” And, he signed off of his social media. We noted that many fans can’t wait for his season. It brings the first Black male lead to the show. He also shouted out other stars from the franchise like Tyler Cameron and also Hannah Brown. In fact, Tyler and Matt met at college and remain fast friends. So, presumably, he also gave him some tips about dealing with his season on the show.
People of color featured on the franchise in the past. For example, Rachel Lindsay landed the first Black female casting. And, after Clare Crawley left The Bachelorette, Tayshia Adams also got cast as a lead. Talking of The Bachelorette, many fans seemed happy that Matt got his chance on The Bachelor. Recall, Clare fell out with him before her season even started. And, it looks like ABC plan on remaining inclusive.
Chris Harrison speaks about ‘a step in the right direction’
According to Access Hollywood on October 3, Chris Harrison opened up about Bachelor Nation. He talked about Matt James, and also touched on Peter Weber, Tyler Cameron, and Hannah Brown. With Matt James, the longtime host talked in the long term. He said that making him the lead’s an important “step in the right direction.” Plus, it looks like this won’t be the end of inclusivity. In fact, he promised that ABC takes it very seriously. And, the network strives to “do better” in the future. In fact, they look at addressing age inclusivity as well.
Actually, fans of the Bachelor Nation like the idea of more inclusive actions by ABC. And, the cast themselves support the idea. Digital Spy noted that in June, a petition for the show came out. People demanded more “racial diversity” in the US both in front of and behind the camera. And, it circulated widely. Some of the cast who featured on the show shared it. They included “Rachel Lindsay, Tyler Cameron, and Seinne Fleming.” Plus, Dustin Kendrick” and “Bibiana Julian.” Then, “Jubilee Sharpe” joined in.
More support for inclusivity on Bachelor Nation
Not stopping there, other supporters included “Olivia Caridi, Onyeka Ehie, Alayah Benevidez, Marcus Grodd, Lauren Burnham,” and more. Finally, it sounds like Chris Harrison and the Bachelor Nation production team listen to what the people want. Are you happy that ABC intends on addressing inclusivity more in the future?
