‘Lucifer’ Season 5: Despite ‘Hiccups,’ Drop Date May Be Announced Soon
Lucifans who have been frustrated that Netflix has not yet announced the Lucifer Season 5 part 1 drop date, are now one step closer to getting that information. Showrunner Joe Henderson has given fans an update on the first eight episodes of the official last season of the Netflix series.
When Is Lucifer Season 5 Part 1 Dropping?
As the world goes under quarantine, Lucifans want to know what is going on with Lucifer Season 5. According to TV Shows Ace, Netflix planned to drop the 16 episodes into two-eight episode binges. Last year, Netflix dropped Season 4 on May 8. It is understandable that Lucifans want to know why there has not been an announcement made.
On Monday, Lucifer co-showrunner Joe Henderson gave Lucifans hope that some new episodes will be dropping soon. He went to Twitter to make a happy announcement. “To all #Lucifans out there wondering when season 5 (part 1) drops — chances are, we’ll know when you do! There have been some post-production hiccups because of Covid, but we’re working through them pretty well. Hopefully we’ll all have an answer soon!”
Later, Henderson jokingly responded on Twitter, “I figure this buys me a day or two! ;)”
What sorts of “hiccups” could Henderson be referring to? He is likely referring to the coronavirus and getting post-production completed. As TV Shows Ace previously reported, Henderson’s cohort, Ildy Modrovich had told a fan on Twitter that they would not be dropping the first set of Season 5 episodes early, due to the studio shutdown to protect cast and crew from the coronavirus. She explained that they “still” had to post-production.
Based on what Ildy Modrovich shared last month and what Joe Henderson has said, perhaps they are doing post-production from the safety of their individual homes? Right now, there is no information on what they are doing. But, it is clear that they want to get these first episodes out to fans as soon as possible.

What Do We Know About Lucifer Season 5?
But, co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich is careful to not reveal anything to Lucifans. When a fan recently asked her on Twitter if she could “give a little tease” about Season 5, her response was, “I’m sworn to secrecy at the moment. So… going stir crazy on several levels.” Ildy must be bursting at the seams, as this officially final season of the series promised to be a Lucifan treasure trove of special guests, dream sequences and other delights.Â
Yet, fans already know quite a bit about the new season, thanks to some carefully shared bts social media posts. For example, TV Shows Ace has already reported that there will be a musical episode. Filmed in black and white, this story will feature Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt).
According to TV Shows Ace, we know that God will be portrayed by Dennis Haysbert. We just do not know when Netflix will drop Season 5. Nor do we know when they will complete filming the series.

Season 5 Not Finished Yet
When the studio shut down Lucifer, they were just beginning to film the final Season 5 episode. It sounds reasonable to believe that Netflix could drop the first eight episodes without knowing when they can finish filming the series. They just cannot release the second group of eight until that last episode is filmed and gone through post-production.
As of now, no studio has returned to filming. No one can predict when things can be normal again. There is some speculation that studios will open up again in September, but that is what it is. Speculation.
Be sure to check back with TV Shows Ace for the latest Lucifer news. Once Netflix has confirmed a Season 5, Part 1 drop date, we will be sharing dates and all information.
