Greg Rikaart, star of Young and the Restless, has tested positive for coronavirus. This was after he shared that he was quite ill. What do we know about Greg’s symptoms and status, and how will this affect the CBS soap’s filming schedule?

Young And The Restless Star Tests Positive For Coronavirus

On Monday, Young and the Restless star Greg Rikaart went to Instagram to share that he has tested for Covid-19, and the result was positive. Rikaart, who plays Kevin Fisher on the CBS soap shared that he is now recovering from the coronavirus. He admitted that although he is “pretty healthy” non-smoker, moderate drink and at 43-years of age, well under that 60 and over risk group, he still got it.

Rikaart has now joined a long list of celebrities with a Covid-19 diagnosis. TV Shows Ace has just reported on Younger star Debi Mazar’s coronavirus confirmation.

Greg, his husband Robert Sudduth and their son Montgomery Argo, age 4, all showed symptoms of the virus that is now a worldwide pandemic. All three had the dry cough, but Montgomery Argo came home from school with a high fever. While Robert and their son improved, Greg went downhill fast. He isolated himself and checked with a professional.

Doctor Told Rikaart He ‘Probably’ Didn’t Have Coronavirus

According to a TV Shows Ace report on March 17, Greg Rikaart had a home visit by a doctor. He was experiencing a high fever and cough, two of the trademarks for flu and the coronavirus. The attending doctor determined that the Y & R star did not have the flu and despite not giving him a test, told him he “probably” did not have Covid-19. He was diagnosed as having allergies and was given a zpac for treatment.

But, his symptoms never improved and he started to run a low-grade fever of 100.5 F. His fever lasted 10 days. He was diagnosed with pneumonia, but really needed to take that coronavirus test to know what he was really dealing with.

Now that Greg has been out of action, what about filming? As of March 16, the Young and the Restless is not in production. This is due to coronavirus precautions. This is a very good example of how self-quarantining does work. It sounds like Greg stayed home and far from his co-stars. Had Rikaart worked after that doctor’s diagnosis, he would have unknowingly exposed the entire cast and crew to the virus.

Greg got plenty of social media love from his Y&R co-stars. Melissa Claire Egan said, “Love you, friend❤️.” Tracey Bregman shared the love with the message “Love you Greg! So glad you are feeling better!! ❤️” And, Christian Le Blanc had something to say about the virus that sidelined his television brother: “TAKE THAT VIRUS! ❤️❤️❤️”
