‘Gold Rush’ News: Todd Hoffman Headed To Alaska To Gold Mine!
Former Gold Rush star Todd Hoffman is ready to mine himself some gold nuggets. He has already made his choice to gold mine in Alaska. What do we know about the fan favorite’s plans?
Todd Hoffman Returning To Gold Mine In Alaska
Former Gold Rush star Todd Hoffman has taken to Twitter and shared the news that so many fans want to see. Todd is going back to gold mining.
As TV Shows Ace reported a week ago, Todd surprised his social media followers by saying he would return to gold mining. But, he clarified, he would not be returning to Discovery. In a series of tweets he pondered whether he would mine in Winnemucca, Nevada, where he had a smallish trommel. He also considered either Colorado or Alaska, both places he has mined before.
But Monday, Todd Hoffman made it official. He went to Twitter and wrote: “I’m looking at going to Alaska. Maybe get setup this summer. Next summer big push.”
Alaska makes a lot of sense. Gold Rush fans will remember that when the Discovery series first started, it was called Gold Rush: Alaska. But that was just the first season. This is where it all began for Todd. This is when the Hoffman crew went to Porcupine Creek, Alaska with the dream of striking it rich. They became instant reality stars!

Current Alaska Mining Plans
On Monday, Todd shared more information on Twitter. His answers to fan questions revealed a lot about his operation. First, it sounds like he is in talks with a construction company. He posted, “Talked to a construction company that wants to team up on a mine with the Hoffman’s. Exploring a joint venture idea.”
When later asked if the joint venture has a funding source, Todd replied “We are just discussing it. I’m open to a company that wants to give it a go. I have the land and a washplant. That’s it.”
So, Todd has land in Alaska. He also has a washplant. Can we assume that the washplant is on the land? Not necessarily. Based on his revelation that he is going to Alaska, but planning to set up this season, it sounds like he will be doing just that. Sounds like a lot of trucks and hauling.
Now the question is, will there be cameras? Gold Rush fans may assume this. That is because of Todd’s previous posts.
Will Todd Hoffman Show The Math Behind Gold Mining?
Back in September, TV Shows Ace reported that Todd intended to film Jack putting together a wash plant and show the “true costs” of gold mining. He had shared that he purchased a New Zealand-made dredge, and planned on mining in the Yukon.
Gold miners are getting ready for a new season. It should be interesting to see what Todd Hoffman and his crew will do next.
Be sure to check back with TV Shows Ace for the latest on Gold Rush, Todd Hoffman and a whole lotta gold mining. Gold Rush, and the various spinoffs air on Friday nights on Discovery.
