‘Shameless’ Turns Nine: Is Season 11 Confirmed Yet?
Season One of Shameless premiered exactly nine years ago on January 9th, 2011. As hard as that is to believe, that means the series turned nine as of yesterday!
The official Instagram account for the Showtime hit series shared a collection of promotional images from each season of Shameless in honor of the show’s birthday yesterday. The birthday post contained over 100,000 likes and nearly 1,000 comments inside of 24 hours. No surprise, several members of the cast were among the first hundred thousand likes on the post.

Unsurprisingly, fans of the Showtime hit series were more than ready to celebrate the series birthday. Many took to the comments to gush about how much they loved the series.
- “I’ve gotten all the season box sets (except for season 10), and I’ve watched since the show started.”
- “Happy birthday best show in the world.”
- “It’s so cool that we have literally watched the cast grow up.”
- “Still the best show ever”
Has Season 11 been confirmed yet?
With nine years and ten seasons under its belt, Shameless has accumulated a cult-like following. How perfect would it have been for Showtime to confirm a Season 11 in celebration of the series birthday? Unfortunately, there is yet to be any news from the network regarding whether the series will continue for an additional season.
This, however, does not mean fans of the series should lose hope. Or, should stop celebrating the ninth birthday of Shameless. In fact, chances are pretty good the series will continue for several more seasons. According to The Inquisitr, it was William H. Macy (who plays Frank Gallagher) that hinted at the future of the series during a panel.
During the panel, Macy noted that he was open to being around for at least four additional years of the series. At the time, the series was in Season 8. So, that would mean that Macy was willing to stick with the series until at least Season 12.

If what Macy said during the panel held any water, fans should be able to enjoy at least two additional seasons before the series comes to a close.
Could Fiona return to be a part of the series finale?
The unfortunate truth is everything must eventually come to an end. When Shameless does eventually end, one of the biggest questions is whether Fiona Gallagher (Emmy Rossum) will come back for a brief final appearance in the show. When Emmy exited the show she made it clear her character should be viewed as just moving down the street. She explained that she could always return. Moreover, the cast and the showrunners noted they would welcome her back with open arms.
Fiona returning for the series finale stands a pretty good chance based on the fact that Fiona also returned to the Shameless U.K. series to be a part of the finale. For those who have not watched the U.K. version of the series, the character Fiona exited much earlier in the show. She, however, did find her way back for the finale. Shameless fans can only hope the same will happen for the U.S. version.
