‘Counting On’: Carlin Bates Shares Her Pain At Seeing Joy-Anna Forsyth Lose Her Daughter
Counting On fans heard that Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth experienced a miscarriage. She made the announcement via her Instagram on Wednesday. In her second trimester at the time, people reached out to comfort her. Carlin Bates also went there to comfort her during this very sad time. Now, she took to her Instagram to share her pain at seeing Joy during this time.
Counting On‘s Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth had her 20-week ultrasound
CNN reported, “[Joy-Anna] and her husband went to the doctor for a 20-week ultrasound and gender reveal.” They added, “only to learn that there was no fetal heartbeat or movement.” They cited the news came via Instagram. That’s possibly the worst kind of news for expectant parents. In fact, if they went for a routine scan, the chances are that Joy-Anna retained the baby and birthed it with medical intervention. We don’t know for sure, but either way, the mother knows her baby’s gone.
Even sadder, is that according to Medical News Today, second-trimester miscarriages are not all that common. The outlet also noted, “In fact, a woman may not experience any symptoms and only learn of the loss only when a doctor cannot detect a heartbeat during a routine ultrasound.” So, you can imagine the shock of suddenly being told your baby’s not alive. But for Joy-Anna, at least her best friend Carlin Bates could be by her side.

Taking to her Instagram, Carlin shared the pain for Joy-Anna. She posted a very emotional photo and wrote, “I wish there were words to express how broken hearted I am for my best friend. Seeing her give birth to her little girl, Annabell Elise, and knowing that she would never be able to hold her again while on earth just brings tears to my eyes.”
However, Carlin also told Counting On fans that Joy’s being as “strong” as she can be. For Christians, they take some comfort from the belief that they will meet again one day in heaven. Carlin added that Joy “held on to Jesus, knowing that we will see her little baby in heaven one day. I know that Jesus doesn’t promise that we will not face difficulties in this life, but He does promise to be by our side every step of the way. I’m so grateful to have a friend as precious as Joy, and I know that she would covet prayers at this hard time.”

Counting On alum, Jill Duggar Dillard, Joy-Anna’s sister saw the post by Carlin on Instagram. She responded, writing, “So glad you were able to be there! I know it meant the world to them! 💞” Plus, Joy-Anna will probably get lots of support from others in the family. TV Shows Ace reported that Anna Duggar also suffered a miscarriage with their second child.
