‘Gold Rush: White Water’: Dakota Fred Returns
Gold Rush: White Water fans will be thrilled to learn that it’s back for a second season, starting on January 4, 2019. Like Gold Rush: Parker’s Trail, Discovery is bringing viewers more gold mining adventures. Dakota Fred is a longtime fan favorite with Gold Rush fans. What do we know about the return of this popular Discovery show?
Dakota Fred And Dustin Hurt Are Back!
The Dakota Boys, Fred Hurt and his son Dustin Hurt still have a dream of finding gold and striking it rich. They know there is gold there and they are going to get it no matter what! According to TV Insider, they are returning to mine gold at McKinley Creek using their high-risk techniques. They are back to dramatically zip lining to where they believe the gold is, and diving into the frigid Arctic plunge pools, in the midst of the rapid waters, wearing specially heated wetsuits. What is amazing is that Fred, in his 70s, is diving as often as his 40-something son!
The first season of Gold Rush: White Water ended with a flood that destroyed all of their hard work. This happened not long after Dakota Fred, Dustin and the rest of the team finally uncovered a nice stash of gold. Gold mining is not for the timid, and the Dakota Boys are not afraid to come back and face every obstacle imaginable in order to make their gold dreams come true. This includes bears, loose boulders and the occasional wrath of Mother Nature. They are determined to succeed.

A Supersized Gold Rush: White Water Team
Besides Dakota Fred and his surly son Dustin Hurt, who else is returning for season 2? Wes and Paul Richardson are back, as is the retired marine Sergeant Carlos Minor. The team is adding Rich Webster and Casey Morgan. The former is the greenhorn, while the later is an experienced miner. This is the team they need to rebuild their mining claim and get that gold.
As of now, there is no word on whether Todd Hoffman will be returning as the investor. It doesn’t appear that Hoffman will be on any Discovery shows in the near future. Does this mean that another Gold Rush alum like Parker Schnabel or Freddy Dodge will be financially backing the Dakota Boys? It won’t be long until we find out!

Right now, it does not appear that Jennifer Hurt’s son Zack Sheets will be part of the second season. Zack, whose mother Jen married Dakota Fred in 2016, was bullied by Dustin, causing some distracting drama. There is no indication that he is returning to the show, so it will be interesting to see if Dustin calms down this season, or if he is going to antagonize another team member.
