ABC announced recently that Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie were all returning for Season 24 of American Idol. The new season returns in 2026. Ryan Seacrest has been hosting the reality competition since it debuted on Fox over twenty years ago.
The singing competition moved from Fox to ABC in 2018. ABC’s recent announcement only mentioned the three judges, sparking concern for Ryan Seacrest’s future with the show. But they have now confirmed that he will return as host for Season 24.
The “Idol Across America” virtual auditions for the new season started in August. The hunt for contestants continues through September and October. American Idol returns to television in early 2026.

He traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada, over the weekend to host the iHeartRadio Festival. Performers included Jelly Roll, Tim McGraw, Mariah Carey, and more. Ryan Seacrest was asked on the red carpet which musician is his dream Las Vegas residency.
He said that his dream is coming true right now with Mariah Carey’s Vegas residency. Mariah Carey’s Christmastime in Las Vegas runs for 10 performances in November and December.
While the TV host’s dream is coming true, his appearance was a nightmare for fans. They couldn’t get over his shocking new look. Ryan Seacrest appeared gaunt and frail during a clip of the interview posted on social media.

Ryan Seacrest revealed in July that his father was battling cancer. The illness has taken a toll on the family, especially the Wheel of Fortune host. It added another weight to his already hefty responsibilities.
