11 Year Old Texas Girl Saves Mom’s Life Amid Seizure On Busy Highway
A young girl in Texas stepped up in a big way and saved her mother’s life amid a medical emergency on a busy highway. So, what happened with this situation, and what did this young girl do to help her mother out?
Texas Highways Are No Joke
For anyone who has not been on a busy highway in Texas, these things are no laughing matter. In cities like Houston, which are notorious for bad drivers, it can be bad enough trying to make your regular commute on a daily basis.
However, this becomes even harder to navigate when you also have a legitimate medical emergency to contend with. This is what happened to one 11-year-old girl recently, as her mother experienced a medical emergency while on one of the busy highways in Texas. So, what happened with this situation?
11-Year-Old Texas Girl Jumps Into Action To Save Mom
A mother recently experienced a “medical emergency” on a Texas highway, according to PEOPLE. Jenna Lester was driving on the highway near San Antonio in August when she began to experience a multitude of worrying symptoms, all while still on the road.
Some of these symptoms included tremors, heart palpitations, and blurred vision. These symptoms are already worrying enough to experience. However, this becomes even more so the case when you are driving on a busy highway with your 11-year-old daughter in the car.
The mother pulled over and asked her 11-year-old daughter to call 911. Krista was on the phone with a dispatcher when her mother started having a seizure, and she even passed out. If this situation were not bad enough, while the mother was having a seizure, Krista noticed that her mother’s foot was by the pedal, and the car started “rolling.”
Thinking quickly when it mattered the most, Krista was able to put the vehicle in park. With all of this in mind, Krista remained on the phone with the dispatcher until help arrived for her mother, saving her mother’s life in the process of this otherwise harrowing ordeal.
First Responder Praises 11-Year-Old For Incredible Poise
The good news with this situation is that the mother has recovered, and she is thankful for the actions of both the first responders and her daughter for the way that they were able to step up when it counted the most.
Lieutenant Kevin Zigmond praised the young girl for how she handled this crisis, saying, “She just did amazing. I couldn’t believe an 11-year-old was that poised.”
