‘Shark Tank’ Stars ‘Make Out’ To Test New Product

Sometimes, there are very awkward moments on reality TV competition shows. When it happens to the stars, judges, or hosts, it becomes memorable. That happened to two of the sharks on Shark Tank when an entrepreneur was offering up a special lip balm they were selling to increase romantic chemistry between people kissing.
Here is what happened when he asked two of the sharks to test it out.
Two Shark Tank Stars Kiss To Test Product
Hopeful entrepreneurs Dallas Robinson and Mike Buonomoa appeared in a classic episode of Shark Tank. They were there to get sharks to invest in their lip balm product, Kissitixx. The sharks they were pitching it to included Kevin O’Leary, Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Daymond John, and Robert Herjavec.
The idea of Kissitixx was that mix-and-match lip balms result in a chemical reaction when two people kiss. They even brought a kissing booth to the show to demonstrate the effects of the lip balm. They asked for test subjects, and both Barbara and Kevin agreed to give it a try.
They tested the taste of the lip balm by sharing a kiss. “Listen, Barbara, If I turn into stone, I’d be pretty unhappy. Okay, come on let’s try it. I can feel the fire,” Kevin said. Corcoran leaned in, and they kissed. This led to Cuban and John joking about the “love story.”
Interestingly, even though it was Kevin and Barbara who shared the kiss to test out the lip balm’s effectiveness, neither of them invested in the company. Instead, it was Mark Cuban who made the offer.
What Happened To Kissitixx After Shark Tank?
Mark Cuban offered them $200,000 but wanted double the equity. “I think you could be fun, hip, innovative, and kind of a little bit edgy, which is cool. But the other good news is, as you grow, I’ll be there to help you finance all that other inventory without asking you for more equity,” Cuban said.
The Kisstixx appearance on Shark Tank helped the company’s profits to skyrocket “Cuban has also connected us with valuable contacts from distributors to retail brokers,” Robinson said. “His name awareness has also opened a lot of doors. As a small company, vendors and distributors sometimes question our ability to meet demand,”
Buonomo said they sold over 5,500 units just weeks after the Shark Tank episode (via Forbes). “Not only did millions of people see us, but we also have a legacy of success. People can watch the re-runs and see exactly what we do and the Shark’s reaction and investment. It has been a real positive experience.”
